I would think the "personal responsibility" crowd would be very pleased with Obama's talk about parental responsibility, especially if it pissed off Jesse.

We would if he meant a single word of it.

He doesn't.
He is cynically exploiting the "I want to believe" crowd, by telling them what they want to hear.

Interesting to note Hillary's financial woes.
It would appear that she spent much more money than she had in only 1 year of campaigning.
So glad that she did not have the opportunity to do this to the entire Country for 4 years.

Did I hear this right? Obama said today that he will send 2 brigades to Afganistan? I guess he will get them from Iraq. Isn't that going to royally piss off his moveon.org base? Oh well, I'm sure violin ot tilt can explain it.

Obama's team is getting policy advice from the Howard Stern show. Yesterday Artie Lange and Babba Buie reported about their trip to Afghanistan.

What a Bozo statement.

83 percent of blacks had a favourable opinion of Obama, compared with 31 percent of white voters

Now is it the whites who are racist for not supporting Obama because he's black, or is it the blacks who are racist for supporting Obama just because he's black?

"Now is it the whites who are racist for not supporting Obama because he's black, or is it the blacks who are racist for supporting Obama just because he's black?”

Good question.

" Of the 267 measures on which both senators cast votes in 2007, the two differed on only 10. "The policy differences between Clinton and Obama are so slight they are almost nonexistent to the average voter," said Richard Lau, a Rutgers University political scientist."
http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

Now look at how Blacks and Whites divided up their vote between the two. Blacks overwhelmingly voted for Obama in the primary. Whites split their votes between the two. Obama won many states because he got more white votes than Hillary.

So you tell me who is voting on race, and who is voting on issues?

Liberals would say that whites voting on race is racist but that blacks voting on race is not racist. It's the same pesky double-standard fallacy of reason - based on nothing more solid than emotionalism - that we saw with the "typical white person" comment.

The three major networks are sending their anchors with Obama on his trip to Iraq.

If all the television networks and most of the newspapers in this country were not slanted so far to the left we would never have another Democrat as President. As the situation stands it is amazing that we ever have a Republican in the White House.

BTW, considering your quotes disparaging homosexuals and women, this is a dangerous game you're playing.

Ageism??

I can't speak for Violin.

You're not getting it, Mark. I'm asking *you* if *you're* okay with ageism, because violin was a blatant offender. After all, if you're so worried about one group of people being unfairly maligned that you vocalized noncon's innocuous post above as "soft core racism", then surely you would do the same to *blatant* prejudice against the elderly, right? Or do I sense a double-standard......

I'll take your word for it. It does sound like me to say something which was factually true, that would insult your PC liberal sensitivities.

Suuuurrre you're not Hikerboy. Nevermind that "hikerboy" was the ONLY person to make such a racist connection (and was resoundly owned as a result) in that thread or anywhere else. Nevermind that you as "MarkO" posted *repeatedly* on that thread, even on the FIRST page, without so much as a syllable's protest to the picture. Now suddenly you're righteously indignant? Uh huh. You're busted big guy. Hoisted by your own petard. Zero credibility. Owned. You're Hikerboy and you're also a race-baiter, if not downright racist. And you're projecting that on me. Typical liberal behavior. tsk-tsk-tsk.

Barack Obama purges Web site critique of surge in Iraq

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

Monday, July 14th 2008, 8:10 PM

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's campaign scrubbed his presidential Web site over the weekend to remove criticism of the U.S. troop "surge" in Iraq, the Daily News has learned.

The presumed Democratic nominee replaced his Iraq issue Web page, which had described the surge as a "problem" that had barely reduced violence.

"The surge is not working," Obama's old plan stated, citing a lack of Iraqi political cooperation but crediting Sunni sheiks - not U.S. military muscle - for quelling violence in Anbar Province.

The News reported Sunday that insurgent attacks have fallen to the fewest since March 2004.

Obama's campaign posted a new Iraq plan Sunday night, which cites an "improved security situation" paid for with the blood of U.S. troops since the surge began in February 2007.

It praises G.I.s' "hard work, improved counterinsurgency tactics and enormous sacrifice."

Campaign aide Wendy Morigi said Obama is "not softening his criticism of the surge. We regularly update the Web site to reflect changes in current events."
GOP rival John McCain zinged Obama as a flip-flopper. "The major point here is that Sen. Obama refuses to acknowledge that he was wrong," said McCain, adding that Obama "refuses to acknowledge that it [the surge] is succeeding."

I think everyone knows his policies, whatever they are, won't work in the real world. That's pretty much a given. The question comes down to either (a) Are you so anti-Republican that you'd vote for Osama bin Laden or Barbara Streisand before voting for the Republican candidate; or, (b) Are you going to vote for a Democrat for the rest of your life in hopes of fulfilling your lifelong fantasy ... legalized marijuana.?

We all know Obama has no clue and would gladly take away our freedoms in the name of happy marshmallow land, it's just many people are too blind, or too stoned to care.

The whole country has seen what happens when conservative ideology is put into practice.

Your ideas sound nice and make you feel good, but Republicans had free rein and the country is in worse shape than its been in generations.

You're politics have been tried and failed miserably.

Its going to be difficult for Obama to right the ship, but he's going to have a mandate for change.
