Packrafting
Checking to see if there are any packrafters out here east of the Mississippi? Looking for some trip ideas and partners.

Canada - forget the packraft - come up here and go canoeing! It is so much fun.

Same in Arkansas..Leave the raft and come canoeing. The rafts look like they would puncture easily. They cannot be very thick given the weights.

Although I don't have the spare time (or possibly the cojones) to try it, it has occurred to me that an interesting trip would be to hike up the PA Mid State Trail from either Ramsey or Blackwell and come down Babb Creek to Pine Creek from Sand Run Falls.

Try it and let me know how it turns out...

Probably no more than when you created the last packrafting thread.

I have been section hiking the Mid State trail this last year. 20 miles left, and have been watching rivers. I am thinking about doing pine creek in the spring.

The alpacka rafts are suprisingly strong. The kayakers that have seen mine have been impressed. The reveiws that you read on them are accruate.

Canoeing is fun, but you watch in a few years all people will be doing is packrafting. Even in Canada.

no offense - but a pack raft would not survive some of the trips we do in the Canadian Shield

Depends on the water and the craft, WC. Some friends and I pinballed our way down several pretty rough stretches and held up just fine.
