single wall sucks......I own one tarp and one North face single wall and both piss me off with moisture problems,,, the tarp will work only if it is pitched correctly with the wind or breeze but that sucks too because who controls the movement of wind will not let me have a night with rain inside. My double wall tents have never let me down period, and I use them all year in all weather conditions.

I just use a plastic insulated mug (gas station promo style) It's light keeps warm longer, makes filling a water bladder from a stream easier, can double as a cozy if needed, etc. and it has a lid so it's harder to spill when I'm staggering around camp! ;-)

Hey man.... I use a Nissan vaccum MUG in the winter time... and when I have my HOTTIE all fixed up with the lid on, I can not worry about my hottie getting cold. Gives me time to prepare my meal and not hurry up and drink my nice warm libation uhh I mean my irish coffee...

You can't cook or boil water in the double wall cup. So, it's single wall for me.

I use the garden variety plastic insulated coffee mug, with....

... SIPPY CUP TECHNOLOGY!!!

You know? One of those lids you can close shut when you're not drinking?

This serves one very important purpose: KEEPS THE BUGS OUT!!!

Besides, if I'm drinking something HOT, I'm almost certainly drinking it quickly... So, I don't need some over priced titanium super mug... my drink just ain't gonna last that long....

A cold drink is a little different... I tend to nurse those for a while... which is why it's URGENT that I keep the bugs out - Not that I mind eating the occasional bug (high protein, zero fat!), but those little bastards will drink far too much of my Jack Daniels if I don't keep an eye on them!

I've tried various insulated cups, but they don't warm my fingers.

Can't cook in a double walled cup. They are heavy and generally useless. I don't think they insulate better than a cheap plastic mug which is lighter, a LOT cheaper, and you can't cook in either. Pure yuppie backpacking status symbol.

I use a small nalgene and a beer cozy for my hot drinks. Makes walking w/ my hot coffee much easier (some cold mornings, I make a second cup to take along... so nice to have a hot drink while hiking.)

I have both and use neither...the double wall doesn't have a lid and doesn't warm my hands in winter when I need an insulated mug to keep my drink hot. The single burns my lips. I use a plastic, double wall mug from MEC

that holds 14 oz of liquid and pour what I want to drink either into a Squishy cup or, if I want to warm my hands, into the stainless steel mug that fits on the bottom of a 1qt Naglene...this mug in easy to pack, cheap, can go on a stove if it has too and doesn't burn my lips...plus, it allows you to wear gloves as the handles are long...

Repeat, do not put double wall mug on stove...I did (duh) and it now has a rounded bottom although it didn't lose it's ability to insulate...dumb, I know but I hadn't had any morning coffee and wasn't thinking...

I use this Titanium Cookwear set. The small pot is my mug and I can still use it for cooking if needed. 7.1 Oz for the whole set.
