Final thread posting from this location...
This is not a backpacking thread, so, if you have a problem with that, I'm sorry and invite you to please hit your back button and read something else.

I write this thread with a heavy heart. This will be my last posted thread from a place where I've dreamed, strategized, executed and then recounted those tales. Long has my corner where my pc lives in my living room been a place where I could reach out and touch the Universe. I am sitting in an empty room devoid of all those rememberances of my journies, photos, brochures, back country permits have all been packed and tonight, I dismantle my communications system and portal to the internet. I'll not sit in this chair in this room and plan any trips anylonger.

I've spent SOOOOO much time here that it sort of feels like leaving a good friend forever, which is nonsense. But the sentimental side of me says its important to allow myself to feel this emotion. It's not like I'm leaving forever, only changing locations. But the corner has been my saving grace for not being alone.

I've thought, "just delete this thread, its not important".

But ofr those who have made the journey to my home, thank you. The House of Stikmon has always been open to travelers and fellow journiers. That house will soon be a thing of the past. This is the first house that I've owned myself and has a special place in my heart. Thanks to those who have come and graced my home with your presence.

I hope to see more of you in our new digs in Hardy Arkansas. Come look for the building with the Pirate flag flying from the roof. That's where Khatru and I will be found.

Bless you all for sharing the ethers with me, and even more so, for sharing the trail with me and Khatru.

Marc

LOL, i thought about posting a similar thread when i lost (for a second time) my gear storage space...it was first in a spare bedroom, i had the entire bedroom...much of my gear never even got put up, just haphazardly thrown in the room when i returned from a trip

then, due to the birth of my son, i had to move it to a closet of another spare bedroom...now, due to the upcoming birth of my daughter it has had to move once more, this time to our garage...gear wasn't meant to be stored in a garage...i even had to make sure i had plastic containers for everything to keep the bugs and mice out of it...RIP, gear storage

I felt much the same way when I moved too.
Enjoy your new digs, think fondly of the old digs.

Stikmon... Do you live in Lexington KY?

I know a house with a Pirate Flag flying high!

Is New Circle road in your back yard???

Anyway... I hope your move is a good one!!!
Be safe and be happy!

Stikmon, sorry to hear of your sadness. I've had to go thru that many times, sad stuff there. I once traveled back to PA to the home I grew up in and when I drove up in front of it all those years later and got out of the car I cried like a baby.....who knows, we get all wrapped up in emotions and we are such sentimentalists..........and I still am.....

Stikmon, think of the new places and friends. keep the memories but don't be sad. Be thankful for the memories and don't let the stuff (house, location, etc..) have such a strong hold on you :) It's just stuff.

Hardy Arkansas seems like a good jumping off point to lots of good outdoor stuff. Arkansas itself if a wonderful playland. The Smokies and the Rockies are not so far away as well. Here in south Louisiana I've gotta drive 8 hours just to see a hill. Good luck Stikmon. Enjoy.
