Woo-hoo!

Just got our permit reservation confirmation in the mail:

Enter the wilderness at North Lake (Lamarck Lakes Trail) on 7/25

Exit via Whitney Portal on 8/9

We'll be summitting Whitney on 8/9 before exiting - it will be BowlderSon's 13th birthday!! What a way to enter teenage-hood!!

Someone will hike in a resupply from Cedar Grove / Road's End. If not BowlderGal & friend(s), I may be calling on one of you!

BowlderGal will pick us up at the end, and we will have a gigantic birthday celebration that night in Lone Pine. Shutter up yer doors & windows, Lone Piners!!

Including our jaunt down toward Cedar Grove to meet our resuppliers, I think it's around 125 miles. Total of 16 days of hiking - that pencils out to a little under 8 miles per day. A bit more than last year, but, hey, we're experienced now!

If you fish, bring your poles. Even if you don't fish, bring a pole. There are some big uns back there...

Last year, I decided I didn't want to hassle with fish-related gear, etc. Of course, we saw pan-sized trout in every single freakin' body of water we looked into! They were practically clogging my filter whenever we got drinking water!

So I'm thinking about it. I'm pretty handy with a spinning lure, and B-Son isn't old enough to need a license yet. Hmmmm.....

we'll miss you at the trailhead by a week.
Our group is also starting at North Lk but heading North staring the 19th. we'll exit at Reds Meadow. 70 miles a week later.

Yeah, Those passes can be tricky with snow on them. I remember when we reached Forester Pass a couple of years ago. Yikes!

What Hodgeman said! We did that same route, but in three one-week trips.

Are you camping at the Darwin Lakes? We caught some 14" goldens there.

Those are all high passes, so good thing you are in shape!

Time is getting closer!

We just bought pretty much the rest of our food yesterday. Now we have to repackage it all so it will fit into the canisters. It looks like we will be able to offload one of our canisters at the resupply, since we'll have bear boxes at our first 4 or 5 nights after the resupply.

BowlderGal is confirmed as the resupply expedition leader out of Cedar Grove - she'll be bringing along BowlderCuz and a friend to help.

Still haven't decided if I'm willing to carry the fishing gear weight or not....

We hit the trail 3 weeks from today - woo hoo!

Anybody going to be in the area during that time, other than songbyrd?
