LOL, I absolutely love that the left wingers hang on Coulter's every word. How do you wake up a Liberal? Tell them Ann Coulter is on television. LOL

Why do I always hear about her from the libs?

(yes Geo, you're a lib. I know you "hang around" military types, but that doesn't make you a conservative)

Lots of military "types" are not conservative.

Isn't McCain's voting record pretty solidly conservative? Why do they seem to hate him so much?

Almost half the senators are ranked more conservative than him on their rating scale.

Nimblefoot - Being in the middle of the whole group doesn't mean he's centrist. The whole Senate leans left due to the welfare state their voters demand to reelect them.

So what issues we talking about - it can't just be the pro-torture Republicans who are against him.

Y2 John has been willing to do ANYTHING to get recognized, from amnesty for CRIMINALS (answering the question why he has to run for President...cause he won't reelected In AZ)...hell he is the Bill Clinton of the Republican Party.

Finally there is this, John is a Moderate at best...there are no books of 'The Greatest Moderates in History" becuase moderates go with the wind. They do not lead.

becuase moderates go with the wind. They do not lead.”
XL400236

That's a BS comment if I ever read one.

The biggest problem with our political system, IMHO, is that it's dominated by extremists... whether they be right-wing or left wing.

Personally, I disagree philosopically as much with the fundamentalist/religious crowd (who have no understanding at all of the word "tolerance"!) as I do with the Socialist idiots who don't seem to be able to understand basic economics when we talk about how we're going to PAY for all the services they want to give away for free!

In summary, I think "moderates" need to be given A LOT more credence... maybe they're just trying to GET SOMETHING DONE, vs. adhering to some rediculously rigid "party line", whether that "party line" is Repub or Dem.

Of course you extremists on the right & left can't seem to handle a discussion based on common sense or some level of compromise so that we could move forward instead of the the silly fighting with each other.

Ahhh, the immigration issue is the big one then? I guess he's greenish on the environment.

He's pretty solidly pro-life isn't he
Supportive of surge and action in Iraq in general?
Fiscally fairly conservative?

I just can't understand the annimosity. Though Coultoir is will obviously just say anything to attract attention to herself.

Support surge (maybe orginated it), good

Somethings he does good on, somethings not. Still way better than anybody on the Dems side. But I think the Republicans need to do a lot better.

Ann isn't running for anything.

McCain's main claim to fame is he ZIGGED when he should have ZAGGED. WHOOP TIE DOO. Now I am in awe of his service as a POW, but remember Bendict Arnold was a GREAT Leader Right before he tried to sell West Point.

Have to agree it's a pretty limited field. And I am concerned that the guy is a year older than my father..... who loses a pair of glasses every week or so (having said that his mother still seems to be going strong).

Do you think a centerist Democrat would face the same annimosity?

He ran against the "official" candidate because the party got mad at him for taking reasonable positions on things instead of the officially sanctioned extreme positions and the party went to work and supported his primary opponent.

from   To a Mouse, On Turning up Her Nest with a Plough

Thou saw the fields laid bare and waste
              An' weary winter comin' fast,
An' cozie here, beneath the blast,
              Thou thought to dwell,
Till, crash! the cruel coulter past
              Out thro' thy cell.

I heard a great definition of NEOCON...and if that is the Definition going around I agree with it.

NEOCON apparently is a "Conservative" who sees solutions in big government.....

In that case I am pretty sure Sarge, Stove and I are NOT in that category.

Um Sale if you Um check (I am so sorry to bring this word up since it is "fact") HISTORY you will find the 94 revolution was about changing Government to make it more responsible....it partially succeeded but the leaders lost their will. They were watered down by the system.

Does "partially succeeded" mean the same thing as "failed"? Can I comment on this, having never been a politician?
