Using gps on the appalachian trail
I know no one needs a gps to navigate the A.T. but it is a fun toy to play with. What I am trying to find is a program to download to my gps that has the trail on it. I have the one from the conservancy with the shelter waypoints but it does not have the trail or other land marks. can anyone tell me if such a thing exist and where I can find it.

You can download the centerline and shelter locations from the ATC site. You just have to look around to find it. Also, you need to know the type of file your GPS saves tracts and waypoints as and download that type.

Grarmin has mapping software for the AT in 24K resolution. You need the Topo 24K National Parks East CD.
