RRG or Mammoth Cave in March

“Anyone have any interest in a weekend trip to RRG or Mammoth Cave in March?”

“howabout a week long trip?”

“I don't want to take a week of vacation that time of year. Are you planning on going?”

“wheres those places at?”

“If I did anything it would have to be end of the month.How about Easter Weekend?RRG sounds good I would like to go back before the leaves get on I would be a Sat.and Sunday hiker.”

“How about something in Hoosier National Forest like Shierly Creek or up by Monroe Pates Hollow?”

They are both in Kentucky. Red River Gorge in maybe an hour Southeast of Lexington, and Mammoth Cave is just across the boarder about an hour north of Nashville, TN. I have never been to RRG but the pictures look beautiful. I have been to Mammoth Cave and was a little disappointed, but perhaps I am just spoiled with everything we have further east.

I may be interested in a RRG trip it just depends on the weekend and if Chili ever gets the Foothills Trail trip posted. My March, April, and May are pretty well booked already.”

“Kenyucky is just too long a drive for a weekend thing.”

“I have to agree with Mocs as far as the views, Red River Gorge, located in KY, has some great views and hikes. Mammoth Cave is OK, just not as good. March might be a good time to do RRG. May not be as crowded.”

“Go another 2 hours east and hit the real hills of Kentucky, not those mounds of dirt in the gorge. Try the Pine Mountain Trail, you probably won't see another person the whole weekend, unlike the superhighways in the gorge.”

“I am looking at a hike march 14-16 in the RRG. Possible maybe Do the cloud splitter thing. Just in my head so far.”
