wk, it wasnt his pastor (hagee) it was an ultra-religious right guy he asked (foolishly) for an endorsement(to pander to a very vocal group of whiners). He was never a member of his congregation.

Jeezus V what do you think you are?; the Kieth Oberman of TT? Blogs are the substantial equivalent to "The cousin of a friend of mine said...". Then again, you have used the National Enquirer as a source before too.

Maybe you didn't notice the CNN byline?

Isn't McKinnon stepping down? Didn't he tell Cox News last June that he wouldn't work against an Obama candidacy and that an Obama presidency would send a great message to the country and the world? Didn't he also say in that same interview “I think he has a deep character and good judgment. I also think he’s wrong on some fundamental issues. But I believe he is honest and independent.”

Do a google news search for "Mark McKinnon".

Debate on facts, not some very lame attack on the source.

I love how V refers to McCain's age

Just how old is your Senator Lautenburg? you know the one that fraudulently broke the election rules to run in NJ because the other candidate was losing.

Last count 84.

Re Townhall meetings between Obama and McCain, McCain said:

"I don't think we need any big media-run production, no process question from reporters, no spin rooms," McCain said. "Just two Americans running for office in the greatest nation on earth, responding to the questions of the people whose trust we must earn."

Best thing I've read from him. Kudos to McCain for pursuing a better, uncanned format for debate.

Never said McCain was a great orator. I know I can always depend on you libs to be sure I don't miss any of his speaking problems. But Senator O, seems to make a lot of them that just get a pass (how many states?). Given that he is suppose to be such a charismatic orator, I think speaking with out a script may be interesting. And if he's ever forced to actually answer a real question... well I just think I like that idea (a lot).

Nice. I wouldn't ever say this to my wife, ever. http://rawstory.com/news08/2008/06/12/daily-show-mccain-accused-of-dropping-c-bomb/

Also, who's followed how he dumped his first wife, the mother of his children, after she got disfigured in a car accident. Apparently, was jet setting around and sleeping with Cindy before he was divorced.

So much for Family Values!

So what you're telling me is wants there to be multiple view points presented to children about a subject there is no true proof about so they can make their own minds up rather than force feeding just one POV?

What a bassturd!

It's not Science; it's Religion and teaching it in public schools as Science is a violation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution of the United States.

If you think state establishment of Religion is a good idea, check out Sudan or Iran.

McCain’s Tortured Logic
by Madison Powers, Guest Columnist

General Wesley Clark drew fire recently for saying the obvious. Just because Sen. John McCain served with both distinction and great personal sacrifice in the United States military, this in itself is not necessarily experience of the sort that automatically adds to his credentials for serving as commander in chief.

Many things go into the mix when thinking about the relevant qualities necessary to occupy the civilian job of presiding over the military and its role as an instrument of foreign policy. Good judgment and a host of other traits and abilities also count.

One might think, however, that McCain’s personal history would qualify him, perhaps uniquely so, to speak with great authority and indeed, enhanced moral clarity, on the subject of torture and matters pertaining to the treatment of military prisoners at Guantanamo.

However, that assumption turns out to be no more reasonable than the supposition that someone should be especially well qualified as an expert on marriage merely for having endured one marriage for 40 years or for having been married a few times.

McCain once again last week proved his remarkable capacity for going astray on one of the most important military policy choices the next president will face. Of the U.S. Supreme court decision guaranteeing Guantanamo prisoners the same rights of habeas corpus as others incarcerated under U.S. legal authority, McCain called the decision “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”

Considering the other candidates for inclusion in the list of “worst decisions in history” one might assume that this would be one of the top priorities he would pursue should he become president. But we have no direct indication from his campaign just what, if anything, he hopes to do in order to make sure that these prisoners are denied the sort of rights accorded almost universally around the world to those in similar circumstances of captivity.

More important is the logic of his criticism. The argument begins with the observation that “these people” are not citizens and that there are “some pretty bad people down there.”

Given that logic, McCain’s own captivity in Vietnam would seem to be unfortunate, when judged from his own perspective, but not something he could complain about as a matter of his human rights being violated. He seems intent on linking what legal rights we have under a system dedicated to the rule of law to citizenship. That is a perilous path to take, given that he was not a citizen of Vietnam. The logic of his own position demotes the moral status of any complaint he might have against his own former captors by tying any claims he might have had to citizenship.
