If the weather keeps up, I might have to give the North Fork Mt Trail Trip a look. I thought we were suppose to be heading into spring. What month are we in?

No Weather Ninny’s Allowed!!
C'mon People!!
What's a little mud!!! Just bring yer Yax Trax and buck up.

I do have a seriuos question however!

How far is the Friday night campsite from the southern Trailhead? If we are planning on hitting the trail early (8:00 AM) are we gonna end up getting up at 5:00 AM?? Maybe we need to reconsider a campsite closer to the trailhead (Maybe on the trail proper?) Just a thought and not a criticism. LOL
See ya later.

I will defer to chili or Stomper on that. If it is the same trail head we caught last time, it is like across the road. But I don't know for sure.

Friday's nights campsite is right on the water. You can drive right up to it. Depending on where we camp, you might have to walk a very small distance. Randall poses a good question as far as Friday night's campsite. The campsite is closer to the North end of the trail. I don't know if shuttling will aready be done or not. I won't get there till late on Friday.

Friday campsite is drive up. It is on north end of trail, but we need to have a vehicle up there anyway. If we break camp at 7, we can be on the trail by 8.

If that is too early for you slackpackers, then we can camp somewhere closer to south TH.

Let me know which works better.

That would work for me. If everyone is getting there early, it is not a problem. But if people are arriving late, then we need to coordinate the night hike.

Let's see...you are going up in elevation on a N/S aligned moutain range and you expect warmer weather and no snow.

I want some of what you are smoking....

Coyote, Randall.

If we can position Coyote's vehicle at the North Ranger Station. And Randall's at Golden Pond on Friday afternoon, we can camp at or near the south TH.

I will look at the map and make sure we have a clear, easily identified rally point for Windigirl to join us on Friday night.

Gatlin Point is the alternative.

It looks like that will work better for almost everyone.

Any objections?

Now, I'm in the mix if you still got room. I have the whole dang week off starting this Friday morning.

I was planning on heading to Grayson Highlands but this one sounds interesting.

What cities are nearby that Sa could "explore" for 4 days?

Three confirmed to thru hike. I suspect my wife is just waiting on a forecast, lol. I understood Windi to be in on this, but now I don't see her name on the list.

Two more to hike 30 miles. Ok, this trip is shaping up.

Also, hikers need a permit. You can get one at the Welcome Centers. $7 bucks for three days, or $15 for a year. (or close to that dollar amount).

Chin OUT
I spoke a day too soon. The reason I had the week off was it was the week of the Univ of Illinois' baseball spring trip. My son was at first not selected to make the trip so Sa and I went to Plan B.

Ty called me this morning saying that one of the catcher's is hurt and the coach has asked him to travel. That is great news for us but it means I am back to Plan A and will have to miss the LBL trip.

The trail will still be there in the future but this will be the last chance in his baseball career for a week-long Florida trip. He red-shirted last year and has not seen the field yet this spring.

Wish him well in getting in his first D1 game.....

Just some thoughts about picking me and Attila up at Golden Pond.
I can call you on your cell phone when we are about an hour from getting there if that will help
We are looking at getting there around 5:00 PM local time??(4:00 PM Chicago Time )
I am not really sure what time zone Golden Pond is in!!
You might want to start thinking about what you guys wanna cache in the car at Golden Pond as well.
See ya later.

Randall,

LBL is on Central.

Coverage up there can be spotty, but I will talk to you before Friday to make sure we are on the same page. I am guessing I will be packing it all from day one. If I leave anything in your vehicle, it will be two days worth of grub.
