Linville Gorge Dayhike

“Hey Guys & Gals I am leading a dayhike this Saturday at the Linville Gorge for my local outdoor club the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition or ROC for short and anyone is welcome to join us.Right now the plan is to start at the Conley Cove trailhead to the LG trail going north, cross the river at the bridge, go up Spence Ridge to Little Table Rock trail and summit Table Rock,have lunch, back down to Spence Ridge via the Mountains to Sea trail then back track to the starting point.

We will get started at approximatly 8:30 am

My group is meeting at 7:00 am in Spindale,NC then carpooling up to the Gorge.

We're looking at approximatly 10-11 miles”

“Be careful which way you go when you reach the top of Spence Ridge Trail. A right takes you straight up Table Rock (not fun). A left is longer, and still a tough climb, still more tolerable.

Keep me in the loop. Next time, if possible, make it a Sunday. I work Saturday's.”

“I just talked to him a little while ago.He has Sticks stuff but just returned from a three week trip to Hawaii and will get it sent out soon.”

“With Gas at 3.15 a gallon I won't be going any where soon not that far any how will proboly hike the twelve miles of trails at medoc moutain this weekend with a loaded pack of course My wife is out of work and cash is geting scarce.Ive have been walking 2 miles after lunch ever day at work. then after work stoping at alocal trail for 6 miles with a day pack filled with all my water bottles and bladders Ifill like my old Army Nat. guard days when I thinking about trying to join the Rangers.”

“Oh mu God ...did I ever.I was leading this trip for my new outdoor club in my home county. I wanted to do a good rugged hike since at the meetings everyone seemed so into everything.When we got to the meeting place yesterday morning it was me, the President and his girlfriend.The pres. said everyone was scared of this hike being led by a retired Army guy.

When we finished the Pres. said that there was only maybe two others in the club that could have made it. It was absolutley one of the hardest hikes I've ever done.We said our goodbeyes and I went home and took a bath in Icey Hot!

I did see Moonshine at the trailhead for few minutes. He wanted to go but his kid had a basketball game.

“Nope... as long as I can bring up the rear and follow... I always make it. You see, I have done the Pinchin trail and I know what a Ball buster it is or should I say rump buster.
