Hiking Clubs in NC

“No, hoi, that one was the 2005 hike when I fell in the campfire after sampling Fridge's homemade tequila. The year of the gas shortage. I don't think I've seen Frantic since. I am known for my sense of direction (lack of it, that is). Remember, I'm the one that got lost on the Springs trail.

I believe 2006 was the one where you camped below the spring, although I think you might have moved over to Rox's digs when she arrived. Overall, a pleasant outing, or so I thought until the heads began to roll when we got back. I think the trouble started when we set up where we always did and when she arrived she wanted to set up somewhere else. If I remember right, only Gregg and HikkerJohn were axed. Gregg was forgiven and John snuck back on under an assumed name. The trouble could have started when Gregg pulled out that first quart of bourbon....”

“so, mild and hyway, why don't we do an easy hike over at uhwarrie to start the club off?”

“Sounds great. I vote for Spencer Creek as a base camp. Remember, no alcohol allowed on or near the trails.”

“Oh now I know which one 2006 was and really the split camping was probably my fault - I came in early and not knowing where the traditional site was located I setup in one of the sites fairly close by the trail - Rox and Co. came in and seeing me setup in the same general area - later I was walking around and found the main site but I did not change sites where I was until the next day when Rox & Co. were leaving.

Btw 2005 - you didn't come anywhere near falling in the fire but I do think Fridge had to help you a bit to get you to your tent ;-)”

“hoi, I resent your recollection that I had to have help getting to my tent, although now that you mention it, I do sort of remember Fridge walking kind of close on one side of me and falling down a lot on the other side. You all are to be forgiven, because the folks that I hiked with before knew that when I wanted to go to bed, I just held Scooter's tail and we sort of crawled to the tent, at least I crawled. Scooter didn't have any problem. It was that tequila, I tell you! Actually, even tho the woosies opted out of coming, that year was a very good one. Remember when the guy came over and asked us to stop cussing? Memorable, memorable. Actually, I think all that falling down was due to a medical condition, which I spent about $20000 (or the insurance co. did) last year trying to figure out. The result: "When you get dizzy, sit down for a while".”

“I was thinking about doing a dayhike in Uwharrie, maybe the bottom loop at 24/27. It's about 12 miles. Not sure of the day yet.”

“haha, AT, you IMed me about this so you know who did what. Rox and Robert brought this on themselves by letting personal feelings guide their moderator actions. I have never even said a bad word to Rox and this is how she repays my years with the club. They deleted me from the group for absolutely nothing withiout a warning or a simple email notifying me that I was banned. then she disregarded a slew of people disagreeing with their action and essentially told them they weren't needed either.
