“So... today's my birthday and I got a little bit of money from my in-laws, so off to REI i went... picked up an ENO hammock, some more P-cord and the book, "Last Child in the Woods" by Richard Louv (great book, i've heard) Spam's been hangin in his hammock so darn comfortable for so long now, i've decided to try it out. heck, with REI's guarantee, if i dont like it, i can just bring it back!” 2:08:49 PM 2/21/08 “I bet you got the pink and purple one didn't you?” 2:34:41 PM 2/21/08 “Now sell me your 2 tents for 1/2 price and use your new hammock!” 2:39:21 PM 2/21/08 “Fridge, i got dibbs.” 2:59:35 PM 2/21/08 “first of all, douchebags, i got the red and black one, and second, i didnt say i was sellin' the other tents! but, i guess everything's for sale! throw me a price! hey spam, do you recommend i get the ENO fly or an aftermarket fly...” 3:18:04 PM 2/21/08 “Well that's a tough question...the ENO fly is sufficient but I think that I would go with the one that has four tie outs instead of the one that I have that has two. Then again I kinda like the coverage that I get from my Speer tarp...the one that I used last weekend.” 4:08:30 PM 2/21/08 “I already have thrown you a price?” 4:11:04 PM 2/21/08 “Congrats Full Moon! New gear is always fun.” 4:19:33 PM 2/21/08 “Got one this past year. So far it's been on a few padling trips. I love this hammock!” 4:21:59 PM 2/21/08 “HAPPY BIRTHDAY FULL MOON!” 4:24:42 PM 2/21/08 “Oh to be 23 again or even 32! last edited: 2/21/08 4:28:34 PM” 4:28:06 PM 2/21/08 “took the words right out of my rear. Although the woman are looking better it seems when you get older.” 4:32:09 PM 2/21/08 “yea the big 23 hits me... its weird, the older i get the more i reflect back on the previous year. i never thought i would get like that... i guess i'm just gettin' older...” 6:03:01 PM 2/21/08 “hey foolmoon happy bday . I have the eno and the new eno fly. I just have to use them now.. was hoping to use it on the last trip to mt rogers but I had to do some things with my kids...” 8:22:12 PM 2/21/08 “REI = Return Every Item” 10:03:19 PM 2/21/08 “return every item only if you need to...” 4:19:42 AM 2/22/08 “Ok y'all with the new hammocks - report to hammockforums.net and read up on polyester straps, cinch buckles and ring buckles” 4:45:57 AM 2/22/08 “already done it there HOI... where did you get your ring buckles? i've already got some strap that i'm gonna sew up...” 4:50:07 AM 2/22/08 “http://www.mtntools.com/cat/rclimb/bolts/smcrappelring.htm is a slightly better price than what I paid for the rings - key item to search for is SMC descender rings straps I got from Strapworks note I do something a bit different than the bulk of people do over on hammock forums - I just use a single ring on each end of the hammock and then tie the strap to the ring using a girth hitch - takes a little longer to adjust but its lighter - the strap I tie to the tree with a round turn and two half hitches with the second hitch slipped - again somewhat different than common use over on HF - nice thing about the way I do it is that there is no sewing of the straps.” 5:04:07 AM 2/22/08 “i understand, i've heard (from fridge and spam) that you're pretty much the king of the hammock hangin! are you goin' on the north fork trail in WV in march?” 5:19:29 AM 2/22/08 “report to hammockforums.net - hogonice Wow - hammocking has come a long way. I was camping (and climbing) back in the '80's in net hammocks and those canvas army-surplus jungle hammocks. My first "modern" hammock was a Clark Junglehammock I got in '96 I believe. Nowadays, wowzers, those folks have taken things to a whole new level. I still don't like them advocating using straps on trees that rope would damage. If rope would damage a tree, don't tie into it. My opinion only.” 5:54:07 AM 2/22/08 “yea well your opinion sucks! just kiddin'... i'm going to take any and all precautions to do as little damage to any tree possible...” 6:10:32 AM 2/22/08 “I'm not sure about North Fork Mtn trip - at this time its probably unlikely but one never knows” 7:05:05 AM 2/22/08 “I've only been hammocking for 7 years now - other people have more experience plus many others are involved with DIY hammocking - something I will probably never do for various reasons” 7:55:01 AM 2/22/08 “Hoi is being modest......If your wanting to get into the Hammock thing, Hoi has some great advice and experience. I highly recommend you hammocking with him. Not only is good at hammocking , he also has a couple of nifty inventions he has mastered and an excellent ultra lighter about gear.” 2:26:52 PM 2/22/08 “I second that!” 2:48:58 PM 2/22/08
