The weather service won't update the information for the Park until 0730, but I imagine they got plenty at LeConte.

I took a break this afternoon in Franklin TN just to get snow on my hair and pretend like I was taking a walk. It was sunny, then snowing on and off all day. No accumulation, everyone else seemed to stay home, so I got to and from work in record time to pick up my bicycle from the shop.

I'd love to have something that falls from the sky without a bird being involved. The two two hour rains we've had in the last two years each came when I was sleeping.

92 degrees in when I got in the car this afternoon at 4:30. Saw some snow (from a distance) on Navajo Mtn last weekend, from Lake Powell.

Woke up to 3 inches on top of 1/4"-1/2" of ice. None of the roads were plowed until I had gotten about 10 miles from home. There were cars off the road all over the place.
My forester actually went into a skid; that's only the second time that has happened in the 5 years I've owned the car.

I'm waiting for the "roaring out like a lion" part of March, cuz so far it's been pretty nice. When we get through April, winter should be pretty much over.

Nice OOC quote there Fingerlakes.

Isn't March "In like a lion, out like a lamb?"

I don't think so, but you could be right. So far it's been in and out like a lamb...there's a sheep joke in there somewhere:)

Ever see the old Mad magazine cover involving "In like a lion?" There's a very unhappy lamb involved.

The snow in the parks or the "wild" have frozen solid due to rain and melting and re-freezing. So we can't do much on them...can't cross-country ski, snowshoe or even walk on it....unless it's on a ski path and have been groomed.

Reminds me of a question I asked a friend who works up in Quebec north....I'm talking serious boonies here!!! So I ask him, "Do you go x-country skiing on your time off there?" He gave me an incredulous look and says, "The average temperature is -25C....easily into the -40'sC with a little windchill....and it's open tundra there". Everywhere is frozen chunky snow.....
