what is the best Choc to take with you backpacking during the Summer that will not melt in your pack?

Cold pressed chocolate with a high cocao content.

It will get soft, but wont melt away like milk chocolate.

I've been meaning to try some of this.....   but sometimes all you can do is get a pack of M&Ms, tear off a corner and squeeze it out like toothpaste.

Sarge, yes, but I prefer it with mint.

Actually, 100% cacao dipped in guava juice and then rolled in maca powder is the best.

chili - GREAT! So, I can ask you, where? what? What chili chocolate because I haven't seen it in stores. Why isn't it in Wal-Mart? j/k Seriously though, if I want to try it, what do you/others recommend?

Actually, I'm more interested in adding it to my own recipes, but need specifics on how to do that.

There is an old saying among chili cooks...

...you can cook my recipe, but you can't cook my chili.

I don't think ChuckD knew about that part though...he did a good job with it.

Actually, that is not unusual.

Cincinnati chili has alspice and cinnamon in it also. I enjoy Skylines chili dogs when I am up there and my cousin can make a great pot of Cincy chili.

Eat it over spaghetti with chopped onion, and cheese.

Chocolate Gravy..... sounds deadly!

Yeah, sometimes I think that Cincinnati Chili is from some other planet   (especially when they start talkin' about rice).....   though optional garnishment consisting of shredded cheddar or Jarlsberg along with extra onion, sweet peppers and jalapeńas has been known to happen occasionally (even a dab of sour cream for those requesting a cool-down).

I haven't used water in chili in a decade or more.... I pour in a bottle or two of that Pilsner Urquell.   I tried it with Guinness once and it was tooooo bizarre.

A Wiki Quickie re: monofloral honey.

Leave half a stick of butter out so it'll soften a little.   Mix with about half as much honey (ratio varies).....
BANG!   "honeybutter".

Apply to hot biscuits, toast, english muffins, etc.

Mmmm, sourwood honey...I think I have a few quarts around here! One of my favorites though is Tupelo honey, from Florida. THe absolute BESTEST honey in the world though comes from Greek fir trees. That stuff is so incredible. Mellow, yet incredibly complex and layered, not to mention almost solid and not runny.

On the flipside, HPM discovered he hates chocolate chip (real chopped chocolate by the way) pancakes.
