Just for funsies before you send them home you should teach them to say-

"Yeah right! These knees aren't touching the ground for NObody, be-otch!"

I gave all my kids' stuff to our local troup years ago.

Good luck and have fun.

I think these guys are the non-praying kind of Muslims, Sarge. I'll find out on the first hike we go on. If they do pray to Mecca, its their business. I'll be eating a granola bar or scooting up the trail.

Sure, it's their business, but it would be funny if they were taught to say that.

Non-praying kind of Muslims? Hmmm ... interesting. Is that like Muslim 2.0 ?

Bob,

You still need stoves? I finally got around to cleaning up and checking out the 3 ApexII stoves. They all work fine.

That would be great. So far I have gotten one stove, a "gaz" that uses blue cartridges that may not even be replaceable. Looks like its from the era of Bluet stoves. I could be wrong about that.

For the GAZ check out your local BassPro Shop. That is where I find them.

Sassafras, boxed arrived! Muchas gracias! All that stuff will be used, I bet. I got a grant from Rotary club for $500 for equipment, which will go toward packs.

Sass, that little multitool is sweet. You are right, I don't know how they are going to decide who gets that.

Bob, there's a swiss army knife in one of the shoes that I'm talking about. Something Birch bought for me many moons ago. I never had much use for all those blades or the weight but it seems just the thing for a young man.

ChuckD, box with stoves arrived, awesome. We are set for stoves.

I learned from our quarter master why he won't let go of some of the old cooksets our troop has. We have about 5 new ones that have never been used. On backpacks people bring their own sets, so the new ones don't get used, and they are crap anyway.

But we have about 6 old steel ones that haven't been used for a LONG time, and are all dirty. He won't give those up, basically would rather hoard them, because a few years ago they gave some gear to a guy starting a troop, and the troop never got off the ground. So he feels they were burned, and never again. Sheesh!

Glad they made it OK and hope they are of some use, I tested all of them before they were sent and they worked OK.

I used to hoard stuff but have changed my ways in the last year of so, if I can send things to someone who uses them great, if they end up in someone else's garage not being used at least I'm not having to store them.

Our troop hanging onto 10 cooksets that are never going to be used is crazy. At some point the stuff owns you, rather than you owning the stuff.

Idaho Bob... I have a Camptrails Adjustable II external frame pack in usable condition if that would help you out. I also have a Kelty Tioga wannabe built on a full sized Kelty External pack. Would either of those be of use to you?

Hey Bob!
Work has been busy, so I apologize for not getting back to you--

Are you still needing hats for the boys (or will it be too warm?) When is the actual trip? Let me know, so that I can round up some friends to help out... (I work until the end of May, after that, I can knit 'til the cows come home. :-) )

The kelty frame is tentatively spoken for.
