The problem will never go away as long as the money incentive attracts the smart people to the money side and the socialist WOGs to chasing them. You right wingers should know the socialist police and it's allies haven't a chance against the powers of capitalist pig crime. If you want less drugs let the socialist have the supply side and like all socialist attempts it will fail with no drugs available.

Like listening to the silly libbies, you wingnuts aren't consistant in your view of where government and the private sector separate. My guess is that if the taxpayer pays and the capitalist control the stats about the results of their efforts all will carry on like the rest of the messes that have come from this abysmal partnership.

I think salebored has a very accurate theory. Wonder what would happen if illegal drug sales were no longer a crime of any sort.

Um sadly we all know that the "preventing and prosecuting" end will be continually hamstrung by the growing New Castrati (as seen on these threads). SOrry Crash but while I would love to see it decriminalized I REALLY don't think the average Americans could handle the responsibility.

That's the funny thing. The right doesn't want the "nanny govt." unless it consists of locking up dope smokers.

O.K. Let's go with Prosecutor's numbers of 5% of incarcerated are solely for drug-related crimes (non-violent). That still 12,500 cots that would be made available for the violent a-holes that are being turned out on the streets EARLY because of lack of beds.

The Dutch violent crime rate is still a fraction of what it is in the U.S. Take a look at the bigger picture. We need to take a look at why we are such a violent society. This is what harms you and I, not the junkie shooting up in his squalid home. Why are people violent? Drugs? Alcohol? Background (how they were raised?)? Watching too many Chuck Norris movies?

What about what I wrote was rosey colored? So, you subscribe to the philosophy that some people are just inherently evil and there isn't jack that can be done to alter the possibility of them becoming evil people.

Is that it?

The comparison of national crime statistics between countries is controversial since not all countries record these statistics to the same accuracy and every country has its own definition of each type of crime. In addition, the number of crimes that are actually reported is questionable.

Pitbull asked, “Wonder what would happen if illegal drug sales were no longer a crime of any sort.”
Crashbang answered, "the criminal justice system could spend more time and resources preventing, apprehending, and prosecuting more serious crimes".

CrashBang is correct. Experience has shown that many murders are committed by people high on drugs. And experience has shown when you legalize drugs, drug use goes up. Legalize drugs, and violent crimes and murders will rise. More people will be murdered, and the prisons will swell with more murderers. Good point.

Rosey with the exception of Minish, myself and prosecutor you have no dog in this fight.

I believe that most people are inherently GOOD. However there are a select few we CANNOT change. They are constitutionally incapable of feeling even a smidgen of guilt, concern, or for that matter sympathy. There are predators. I get to interview Juveniles who have set fires. As Prosecutor and Minish know this is often the first sign of problems that we start to see (there are many others but this is #1)

What exactly do you say about a 13 year old kid who in the short span of 1 year has set 16 (thats SIXTEEN) fires including one in the HALLWAY of the family home to see how his handicapped adoptive parents would get out.

He is totally and completely devoid of any emotion. He looks at the world as a giant playland. When he went through the Burn Unit portion of the training he and his brother robbed the nurse working with them.

No he is completely evil. There is no hope for him.

Sadly we are seeing this type of activity cross into females too. We are working a case where a FEMALE (age 15) was chasing a guy (age 23) who she wanted so bad. Well she has the run of the streets (don't talk to me about the mother..she is semi absent) and this guy really didn't want to do time for statutory and he wasn't interested in some porky little immature loon job.

Well our darling little girl, hired (wanna know how she paid for it?) two drug boys to burn the family of the girl the guy was dating. The mistake was these idiots HIT the wrong house.

When she was arrested her comment to the charges was,"Bi#ch don't need to cross me."

No, there are inherently dangerous predators out there. If you don't believe that you need to read about some of the real winners. John Wayne Gacy, Albert Fish, etc etc..

I got a dog in this fight. I pay a lot of taxes that pay your salaries, fund your programs and keep your in business.

I am fully familiar with popular serial killers and mass murderers. I agree. There are people out there that are evil. However, those guys were pretty straight edge. They just got off on killing. That was their drug.

We have a process to change the laws. If most people want go get rid of the drug laws they are history.

Yes there are laws and then there is freedom of choice for a person to decide for themselves. There is also a limit as to what laws the federal government can make without getting in the way of states to decide for themselves and not have their self determination obstructed.

Just as we can not pick and choose what laws to follow we can't decide which parts of freedom are OK and which we don't agree with. Freedom is having to put up with some things you may not agree with.

The feds still have their silly War on Drugs, regardless of what the states do. Look in CA. Medical Pot is legal here, yet the DEA comes in and kicks down the doors of establishments.

Oh, and this under the conservative, Dumbya regime. Hey, aren't you guys supposed to be all about states rights and stuff?

HMM yeah remember when DUBYA sent the ARMY (in violation of Posse Comitatus) into a compound and ended up watching 80 people burn to death/....or when he sent the FBI in and killed a woman and her small child in Ruby Ridge...or when he sent in the troops to remove a small child and send him back to COMMUNIST CUBA?

Lets check

http://www.apologeticsindex.org/b10.html

The showdown between the government and the cult began on Sunday, 28 February, 1993, when agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms attempted to arrest Koresh on charges of illegal firearms and explosives charges.

Nope nothing about child abuse...there were charges and I will not argue SOMETHING was happening...but you kinda gotta charge them to get a warrant...

The sad part is we occupied Iraq quicker than Clinton could take the Waco Compound....
