I'm planning a 3 night/4day trip with my girls, and we'd like to do this area. Any recommendations for trails that will have great views, waterfalls, and away from some of the crowds? We'd like to go in May. thanks

West Rim Trail. You can get Pine Creek Outfitters http://www.pinecrk.com/ to shuttle you from Ansonia, Pa. to Blackwell near the southern terminus on your first day and hike back. 27 miles give or take. I know a guy who has a farm near there. ; )

like Har said, the WRT is the trail for the PA GC.

For an even less crowded and more scenically diverse (swimming holes, perhaps?) experience about the same length as the WRT, you could do the Mid State Trail from Arnot Road to Blackwell.

TR for west half here: http://www.pahikes.com/trails/midstate11.asp and part of east half here: http://get.chattablogs.com/archives/065569.html#more

Link to maps for both WRT and this part of MST: http://www.wildasaphoutfitters.com/infomaps.html

Turkey Path has waterfalls, visit both Colton Point and Leonard Harrison State Parks.

Black Forest Trail is just to the south and very scenic.

Like to ride bikes? Pine Creek Trail is one of the nicest rails-trails in the country.

Like swimming holes? Go to the MST along Stony Fork.

Blackwell is a nice little village, visit the Blackwell Hotel.

Golden Eagle Trail is not far from Blackwell and is very scenic as well if I understand correctly

The Golden Eagle trail is an awesome trail. The one climb is hella steep though, but hella steep climbs are fun.

The "man" says Golden Eagle Trail is day use only - but it's definitely an experience. That is one trail I'm afraid to go back to out of fear of ruining the memory!
