Shining Rock Question “Is the water flowing. I was planning to do a 60 mile loop over there similar to the one I did last spring and want to camp on Cold Mountain this year. Is the spring good there, and where can I go to find information related to this? Thanks in advance, hooty” 5:06:58 PM 3/03/08 “I don't think that there has been water on Cold Mountain in several years.” 5:33:13 PM 3/03/08 “I was there in 2004 and there was water on Cold Mtn at the spring just down from teh summit (before the turn) and at the sprin over on Shining Rock. Its been a bit drier the past couple years though. Good luck. If you don't get a good answer here, you migh try over on bp.com” 5:35:11 PM 3/03/08 “i bet if it rains there will be water there...” 6:00:56 PM 3/03/08 “I spent the weekend up there but I started on the mountains to sea trail where it cuts through highway 215 and went to flat laurel creek. There was plenty of water around from the snow we had last week. I cant say about cold mountain though I had to leave earlier because the guy I was with was very unprepared for the cold weather and couldnt stand it anymore so from flat laurel we broke camp at about ten at night walked the trail up to sams knob or actually just below because I left the trail to shortcut to the road then to the parkway and had to walk back to the ride on 215. there was a new meaning of wind tunnel we had to walk (actually jog} through the tunnel at devils courthouse at about 1:00 in the morning temps were prob in the teens. I hated to have to leave but he was miserable. You doin the art loeb and doubling back?” 6:37:16 PM 3/03/08
