She played the wholesome farm girl who became stranded on an island with Gilligan, the Skipper and the rest. But now Dawn Wells, who essayed the role of "Mary Ann" on the infamous 60s sitcom "Gilligan's Island," finds herself in another predicament - and this one is no laughing matter.

The 69-year-old actress and cookbook author spent five days in jail on February 29th and was fined more than $100 after pleading guilty to reckless driving and being found with marijuana in her car.

The incident took place last October in the small town of Driggs, Idaho, but Wells didn't learn her fate until late last month. What exactly happened on this adventure that was far more than a three hour tour?

Police say Wells had just left her own birthday party and was stopped by a cop who saw her swerving in and out of traffic. When the trooper smelled the telltale odour of pot, he asked her where it came from. Wells replied that she'd given three hitchhikers a ride, and had insisted they get out of the car when they started to smoke something.

But when the deputy found several half smoked roaches in the vehicle and cases used to store the drug, he arrested Wells on the spot. She subsequently failed a sobriety test.

Her lawyer would later explain that a friend had left the drugs there and that his client wasn't even aware of it. And he assured that partygoers would testify the actress didn't have a lot to drink at her birthday bash. As for swerving in traffic? The advocate had that explained, too, insisting Wells was driving a new car and was momentarily distracted while trying to find the heater.

The court didn't buy it and Mary Anne now has a record, finishing her five day sentence and serving six months more on probation.

What you and Violin do together on your own time is between the two of you. Please do not share those stories here.

I wonder if the whole cast got high. The show would have been much more comical.

Since Mary Ann was busted in Idaho I would thought methamphetamine or hillbilly heroine would have been the thing.

IDAHO
Don’t be put down Idaho on this one. We are as good as anybody at having scum drug addicts. BTW Driggs is a town Idaho natives can’t afford to live in anymore. It is full of rich refugees form Hollywood and other big money cities. It is next to the Tetons.
