"propose" doesn't mean "propose" this time 'round.

You all have fun where ever you go. Of all of the people, on here its not the trolls that are being the really mean spirited ones.

Jackstraw, ENS is probably a fine person and a strong hiker, but you can't judge people's response to his post as if it exists in a vacuum. He is quite vocal about his opinion of TrailTalk these days and posts quite often this same refrain. If he doesn't want to be here, why does he stay? His behavior in this matter is exactly the same as any troll he lambastes.

I am suggesting that EnS comment was intended for whoever operates the board now. I suppose he's aiming to provoke the owners by trying to hurt their pocketbook. Voting with your feet. Not a bad idea really.

ens knows the board owners hardly ever reads this site and they don't care what we say or do. And it isn't the first time someone cried for a boycott (voting with their feet).

My complaint is the crappy huge links on the site now. I propose clicking on a banner then contacting the link by email and telling them how much the site sucks now. nobody i know clicks on them anyway. tell them you wont buy anything from them cuz you saw them on a site where people get harrassed by trolls.

Rather, my enthusiasm for being out in winter weather wears off in February. I always tend to push the seasons.

But you're right, when I do get out, I rarely take the easy, groomed trails you pansies depend on.

No, Sarge, it's amazing what a compass/map/gps will do for one's bearings.

I did get lost once when I was an undergrad. I was BPing with a friend near the Current River, and we were boozing it up (vodka) at camp one night. The booze imparted upon us the profound idea that we could hike by moonlight down to the river (about a mile or so away) and go for a swim. Of course we got lost in the forest almost immediately and weren't sure which way was the river or our camp. After a couple hours of wandering around in the dark, and making a lengthy determination that the creek we managed to find was NOT the river, getting scratched by branches, tripping and falling, taking hits off the bottle, and generally alternating between laughing and cussing, we managed by pure luck to find our way back to camp again.

Young and dumb! Memorable trip, though.

Bro, I can understand your frustration and fully comprehend where you are coming from.

Now having said that, I would also have to point out the "Ignore this user" function still seems to work. Life is way too short and much too precious to allow yourself to get this worked up over an INTERNET posting site. C'mon, let's get real. This is cyber land and strange #&%!$ happens. Ignore the ones you don't like, avoid the threads that chap your a$$ and move on. Face it, you will run across a$$ holes everywhere....at the mall, in the grocery, at the pub, in church...this site isn't the exclusive gathering place for that type.

Personally, I take everything here with not just a grain of salt, but with a whole train load of it. I cannot imagine myself getting so worked up that I will "brood" over anything Sarge or any of the others do. I am not going to lay awake at night sleepless about the "problems of trail talk".

No, I am going to sling hash when I feel like it, ignore people when I don't. I am going to enjoy hikes and enjoy meeting other TT'ers. I haven't met one yet I didn't like.

If a new site crops up that has the same feel and flavor as this one, I would visit it. However, what makes you think it wouldn't evolve just like this place? As a side note, I don't feel TT has changed as much as people want to believe. In my 8 years or so, I think it is about the same as always.

Bottom line is, I encourage you not to let an internet site encroach on your happiness. Take it like you have to take a lot of things in life...it is what it is and you just have to either (A) deal with it...or (B) jettison it.

You know, it's not even worth the time to stick a red hot poker up your a$$ just to watch you squirm.

The one, and only, reason I mentioned you by name along with "the others" is the highly predictable kind of post you just made.

First the Bearmagnet thread, now you reference ENS's new baby?
I've tried to be nice and stay clear of this pile of garbage thats being thrown around about ENS. But DO NOT mention his son, wife or family while your doing it. I dont care if you dont agree with what he did, or how he did it when he left TT. Dont get personal with a reference about his family.
