Anyone near Ellicot Rock Wilderness ?

“My daughter is backpacking this weekend in the Ellicott Rock wilderness area, left yesterday a.m. I just heard about the weather down there today and wondered if anyone near there can tell me if it was bad in that area? She'll be on the Foothills trail, and heading down the Chatooga river. I won't hear from her until Thursday (3/20)”

“I'm about 130 miles downstream from there in Augusta.   I did see quite bit of lightning when I checked the Weather Underground website earlier today, but it looked like it was more concentrated some distance to the west, like near Cohutta Wilderness, Dalton and Elijay (north of Atlanta).”

“Lookin like great weather the next 3-4 days for this time of the year! The foothills trail is a great one. Much better than I expected.”

“Hey Sunny...I'm not awfully far from there. It will be chilly in the evenings...the rain has passed but the days will be warming to the 50's. I've not ever hiked in that wilderness but have been in the genereal area on occasion. She should have a great time!”

“Wait Tilt...I thought Ellicot Rock Wildreness was up near Cashiers/Highlands area and ran down into SC. Am I confused?”

“Ellicott is on the Chattooga up in the northeast corner.

I have been down Bull Pen Road...that is where I saw the sign to the wilderness...you know how directionally challenged I am. I'm glad I'm not too far off!”

“Thanks--I figured if there was any trouble from the storms yesterday I would have heard by now. She is an ultralight hiker with a group of traditionalists. Should be interesting to hear the "storm stories". They were going to be on Foothills trail, Whitewater Falls, near Cashiers, Ellicot rocks then to Chatooga River.I'm jealous.”

I can remember hiking all the way up there some years ago...... and the big woop-ti-doo rock was about the size of a breadbox,   LOL”
