“A yardarm (or 'yard') is one of those long cylindrical pieces of wood that holds up the sails on a square-rigged sailing ship.

The Sun is usually above the yardarm at about 10:00 in the morning..... � which is Usually early enough for most anyone (unless you're Really hardcore).
