It is part of his mass exodus thing...starting to scare me because it is reminding me of gestapo tactics.

I am embarrassed to say that I did not know there really is a Route 66 until I went to the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago.

Like "American" cheese?

It's no more American than it is cheese.

Lester Maddox riding his bicycle backwards surprised some people.

See, now there's another one. I have no idea who Lester Maddox is. Was that the guy on the Munsters show?

Too bad Curtis Lemay could not ride a bomb backwards the way Slim Pickens did.

Lester refused to serve black people in his diner during the civil rights days and went on to become governor of Georgia.

Maddox said that he would close his restaurant rather than serve black people. An initial group of black demonstrators came to the restaurant but did not enter when Maddox informed them that he had a large number of black employees. In April of 1964, more African-Americans attempted to enter the restaurant. Maddox confronted the group, brandishing a handgun.

Don't know Curtis either.

The first thing that surprised me about American culture when my family moved back was how little public affection people showed toward each other. The Latins are big kissers and huggers and I had to learn to give Americans their personal space.

I was also surprised at how big everything was...big cars and big houses.
