We somehow each seem to have the knack of bringing out the gear coveting syndrome in the other...Montbell jacket, Montbell pants, Hennessy hammock and now, the Jetboil stove.

I never got over seeing you happily drinking your hot bevy from the Jetboil cup in the pouring rain that night in the Traps...it had a cozy, it was compact...you were carrying it around with the fuel still attached, if I remember correctly, which I thought so cool. Your Jetboil stayed in my mind, like an unforgetable melody...it was sad....

So, I was shopping today...looking to use up that 20% REI coupon...well, in the end I did not use it there as I found the set-up that would prove more useful to me...Stove, cup, frying pan, utensils, pot support and stabilizer all for $149.95 with free shipping...

You, my friend, are an enabler...for the sake of my pocketbook I had best stop looking at your gear, dammit!

The first step is admitting you have a problem...(and no, Yogisan cannot be your sponsor).

hehe, good for you mata. i think you will be pleased with it. i especially like using my jetboil on climbing trips. i think you will also be pleased at the fuel efficiency... a small canister of gas will easily last for a weekend+

that pot and frying pan are amazing. very even heat and the simmer is fantastic. even prosecutor said he was jealous at the simmer i got with that jetboil pot. same for the fry pan... makes a perfect pancake or my favorite perfectly browned prosecutor crab cakes... :)

It was so windy today I decided to try my Jetboil for the first time...that thing is incredible! In winds, and I seem to be a wind magnet, it is, hands down, the easiest and most efficient system on the market...I like the way everything goes together...I can fit the fuel, burner, pot support and stabilizer and the 2 pins that make up the coffee press inside the cup...unfortunately, if I want the lid to fit I cannot pack it with the coffee press itself although I haven't given up trying...ah-ha! the coffee press WILL fit in the black plastic protective base...not perfectly, it leaves a 1/8th inch gap, but the bottom doesn't fall off...HA!

If anyone else has figured out how to pack all the above elements in a Jetboil cup, please, let me know...

OK...I decided to look at the directions on the coffee press and lo, there were packing instructions...so now, I've got all that stuff INSIDE the cup...how cool is that!

outstanding!

i found it's all about the order in which you put the stuff in the cup.

yeah, i was a major jetboil skeptic but the thing won me over, esp for weekend trips and cragging.

I heard a rumor that you're going to the Mothers Day hike at the gorge. Is it true?

Where did you hear that? It would be fun to take a ton of kids climbing. Let me looksee if I can go but I can't take the kids out of school for it. I already did this for two days for the grand canyon in March.

Well... the gym here turned out to be less than honest.

she would like to but doesn't really have anyone or anyplace to go. The owners of the gym are... well... how do I put this... I think they could have been looking at child labor violations if they hadn't changed some of their policies. I was not happy with the arrangement.

But the bug has bit her bad. She wants to get into the Coast Guard and do SAR work with them. We'll see how that pans out.
