At least for me, they run a little large. I had to exchange my medium for small with a medium belt. (I'm 6' but mostly leg.)

yea, ya think? probably more. 9 days of food and a bearikade to put it in, plus a 2 pound section of fridges bear fence, plus clothes for 9 days in alaska (summer), plus tent, plus bag, plus this that and the other thing

i'd be ecstatic if it was only 50 pounds

I forget my torso measurement but I was at the low end of the medium per the fitting guide. Even with the shoulder straps shortened up all the way and a decent load, the straps stayed above my shoulders.

I wish I remember where I bought mine because I paid about $300 and they were good enough to do an exchange even after I used it for several days.

You could cut down on the pack weight by finding something that will facilitate the amount of volume you need, but at a lower weight.

Greg's run heavy; I look at them as being along the lines of a Caddilac of bpacks. If memory serves, I think Noncom used one of these things and just got a new Ospery. Perhaps you might want to contact him and see if he will part with it if you are completely set on getting one.

I have a Gregory and while I agree with Laq they do tend to run heavy I got one a bit smaller so I would NOT pack as much stuff. Great pack though

I had a Greg "Shasta" that was a really great fitting, carrying pack...had 'adjust-a-cant' that really made a difference in carry and ride....I gave it to a guy who lost all his stuff in Hurricane Katrina though....oh well, I just felt sorry for him...

Hey crash, check out mountain smith packs. I got the shavano for mountaineering, but they also make expedition packs. I'm very happy with mine. I have a gregory shasta thats about 5 yrs old that I never use anymore if your interested. Its like new. Free loaner for your trip. Then you can spend your $$$ on eskimo hookers!

My Gregory is a Palisades that I got through http://www.ebags.com/. I think it's a bit smaller than the Denali. I managed to get mine for under $200 because of some special deals they were running one Father's Day weekend. I'm planning on keeping it for some big trips in the future but you're more than welcome to use it. The fit might be a little short, however.

I bought a Gregory Whitney, large. I love the pack, it rocks, but it is a bit big. I should have gotten the medium. I am 6'2 and it is still a little long. A buddy of mine got the Shasta or Palisade and he is 6'3 and he got the medium.

i just hope i didnt make a mistake getting a large. already a couple of people said the pack sizes run larger. im sure a large hipbelt wont be too big (the shame). im hoping it wont be too long

Whats your torso length? Being a tad large in length is better than being a tad short, in my opinion. Too short and the lift straps are useless.

Best damn pack for big loads I've ever owned.

edit:
OK, 20" torso..you should be fine.

I've actually had two Pros. The original pack was even larger, something like a 1000 cubes larger (or more). When I got my new one, I asked the rep why they "downsized" the packs and he said they decided no one in their right mind should carry loads that big, LOL.
