The New York Yankees made a promise after the shooting tragedy last year that they would come to Virginia Tech and play in an exhibition game. The purpose of the game was to bring together the spirit of the Virginia Tech Hokies and the heart felt compassion of the Yankees in an effort to help with the healing process. Last week they fulfilled that promise and played a game of baseball with the Virginia Tech baseball team. The Yankees also visited the memorial of the victims and went even further by committing to donate $1 million toward the Hokie Memorial Fund.

My kids were very touched by the generosity and compassion of the Yankees. They couldn’t believe that THE NEW YORK YANKEES came to their little town to show support for the students and to remember the victims. With the upcoming anniversary of the tragedy, the Yankees reminded them that there are people out there who have not forgotten what happened. I know my kids will never forget and neither will I.

For all you Yankees fans out there, this Virginia Tech mom thanks you.

Back Slacker why are you flaming me when all I'm doing is pointing out what everyone else is thinking? If we wanted to hear this sort of stuff we'd watch the tele.
