Good job, Chappy. Don't forget to hang the harvested plants upside down so the good stuff will get into the leaves:) Then again, you knew that.

If you want the full flavor of sweet corn, the best way is to hang the full plant (ears intact)upside down in the barn for a certain period of time. Yum-yum.

Sassy, the Barn Red tin for the hut will ship on the 21st. It will have white trip and look really cool when I install it. I just hate waiting for the materials..I'm ready to finish this project....meantime, I'm watching the plants grow. Also, when the hut is done then we can plant that side of the garden with those things that reside in shade....since that side will be in the shade all day....

I am thinking of either doing away with the veggie garden next year, or making another one. running out of land LOL

but anyway, I want to create an herb garden in a shape of a turtle

how cool would that be!!

treebait, do you worry about animals eating the fish? I have racoons and a bunch of stray cats. I am almost SURE they will go for it. The racoons for the most part are not swimmers, but if the pond is small enough they will catch the fish

Well, the smallest fish in the main pond is over 15 inches, so that reduces the list of possible predators. The little fish are under heavy cover in a 250 gallon heavily filtered bin. I just had a good talking-to with a tri-colored heron this morning. He;s much too small to be a threat to the koi, so I guess he's after the bazillion tadpoles I have in the pond and especially the filtration.

anyone know anything about Mosquitofish?
I was told that it would be a good idea to get since the pond will be so clase to my house

I don't know how well mosquitofish will overwinter in your area, but Microbe Lift makes a biological mosquito control that works really well. Just put a few drops in a bacterium in the pond every week or two, and no mosquito larvae will survive.
