Best way to repair small hole in tent screen?
There's a small hole in the screen door of my tent, most likely from my dog catching a claw in the screen while going in & out of the tent. What's the best way to patch it?
Thanks!

The quickie fix is two pieces of duct tape stuck to eachother.

Good reason to buy a new tent!

The duct tape is simple enough - thank you!

I'm not in the market for a new tent just yet - my $30 cheapo from ebay is holding up surprisingly well so far, thankfully!

I would take some black thread and weave it into the netting not pulling it tight. Much better for the eyes when looking out! Yo bear

For holes or tears smaller than 2 to 3 inches in diameter, an adhesive mesh patch provides a quick fix. Or put a swatch of adhesive nylon repair tape over the gash for a less aesthetic but equally quick, permanent repair. For larger rips up to 12 inches long, TJ recommends sewing the mesh back together using nylon thread and apply adhesive tape reinforcements as needed.

Bess, I have a hole in my quarterdome mesh about 2" in diameter. I ordered a remnant swatch of no-seeum mesh and used seam sealer to adhere it to the main mesh. Worked like a charm.

MSR Crystal-Mesh Tent Repair Kit
The MSR Tent Micromesh Maintenance Kit repairs mesh windows and no-see-um netting. Just peel off the paper back and apply it to the fabric. You don't have to fool around with messy tubes of adhesive. Keep the mosquitoes and bugs out where they belong.

Only use nylon thread if the original mesh is nylon. If it is a polyester mesh then use polyester thread. Mixing nylon and polyester in that kind of reair can result in further damage. The nylon thread can cut the polyester thread and reopen the hole. Using polyester thread on nylon mesh is not as problematic, but the mesh may cut the polyester thread resulting in the hole reopening. Of the two.. ployester thread is less likely to do additional harm. Normal seams in solid fabric can be done with polyester thread because there is not so much movement and abrading on a solid seam. There is a lot of sheering done in mesh work.

First thing ya do is have your wife stand outside the tent. Then, using a .22 caliber hand gun you make the hole a uniform shape...

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm walking mosquito bait, so it's important to keep that tent screen intact.
