Whitney!
I am soooo excited. I have been checking my mail every day for the card from the Inyo permit station with no luck. So today, I get a call that they were trying to charge my card but there was a problem with the number.

I gave them the right number and ....voila...I have a permit! On the date which was my first choice. Who knew...I got a week-end! Probably cause I want to go early when there is still alot of snow. I would rather climb the chute in crampons than hike the switchbacks. Cuz then I get to glissade back down. Yes..adults do get to play. Now I just need to get this broken ankle healed..... ;o)

Good Luck. I provided as many dates as possible to ensure I would get a permit. I realy didn't want to go during the week even if it did mean less people so I didn't have to take too many vacation days.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Not only did we not get Isle au Haut reservations, my rejection letter stated all the bad things I did when applying...

The biggest of all was that my request was post marked 03/31, and just to prove it, they tore the postmark off my request and included it in the denial.

dang, I'm so baaaadd...

Just saw this thread, sandyann - congrats! B-Son and I got our first choice for our "2nd half JMT" hike dates, including exiting via Whitney on his 13th birthday! We'll be there on August 9th....

Great News Bowlderman - Your son gets to do all the awesome stuff!

I am down to about five weeks to get ready for this trip. The broken ankle has healed nicely but all of the ligaments and tendons are still sore. Can't really flex my foot all the way as the Achilles tightened up quite a bit. Not sure if I would rather hike more in crampons or do the switchbacks.

Am I crazy for trying to climb Whitney 4 months after breaking my ankle? Hehehe....my doctor thinks so. =o)

Twiggy's an angel, she gets to be bad, goes everywhere and still goes to heaven.
