We will be heading there on Friday and will camp either at Koomer Ridge or off from Tunnel Ridge Rd. (It will depend on if anyone is joining us or not) We are planning on doing some sight seeing from the car on Saturday morning as neither one of them have been to the Gorge. We will be going through Nana Tunnel, Visiting the Natural Bridge, Chimney Top, Sky Bridge, and a few other things that can be easily seen from a short hike from the car. We will be heading to Miguels for lunch and then Hike in and camp at Hanson's Point, (~3 miles) for Saturday night. Hike out on Sunday morning, perhaps check out whatever we missed on Saturday and head back home on Sunday afternoon. Everyone is welcomed to join us. This is a kid friedly Trip.” 12:54:46 PM 3/29/08 “Sounds like a great trip. You guys have fun!” 1:02:12 PM 3/29/08 “i'll be there the weekend of the 19th with my rat-pack group of climbing buddies... another suicide run.” 1:05:44 PM 3/29/08 “I might join you all at Hanson's Point. I'm definitely going hiking that weekend, but haven't decided as to where yet. I'm definitely doing the Gorge 4/26-27, but may go down there 4/5-6 as well. I was thinking I'd do Bison Way to Sheltowee to Lost Branch to Osborne Bend and up 715 to the truck. That's only 9 miles, so I could just drive to Gray's Arch and hike out to Hanson's. Bigben” 2:25:56 PM 3/29/08 “Bigben, That would be great. We should be heading there in the afternoon. I'm hoping to get there in time to have dinner there and watch the sunset.” 11:51:37 AM 3/30/08 “Sounds good. Let me know if plans change and I'll do the same. Hopefully I won't miss the sunset this time. Last October was my 1st time to Hanson's Point and we set our tents up quickly in the big wooded area before the actual point not knowing we had another 1/3 mile to the point and missed the sunset. We made it for sunrise though. I'll be the big guy with a blue ball cap and a blue Gregory Shasta pack. Bigben” 8:33:10 AM 3/31/08 “This is pretty far from SouthWest VA, isn't it...like somewhere in Kentucky?? You said Natural Bridge though...so I got confused cause we have one north of me in VA...Im assuming Natural Bridge is something in the RRG....??????” 10:55:11 AM 3/31/08 “Red River Gorge is located in Eastern KY. If you are looking at a map or for weather look at Slade, KY. natural Bridge is one sights around that Area. The site below might be worth checking out. http://www.redrivergorge.org/index.html” 2:13:33 PM 3/31/08 Bigben “We might be camping where you camped the last time. There is another point near there that is even better than Hanson's Point for watching the sunset. If you look at any of the pictures I've posted, you will see what I look like. I'm the big female. (I thought about taking "fat woman hiking" as a trail name, lol.) My son is 20 and my niece is 12.” 2:23:06 PM 3/31/08 << back to Easy Red River Gorge Trip page
