“I'm planning on bringing the small skinny one if that's the one you're talking about? The square one got ruined when Troy's basement flooded so we won't be bringing it. I need to remember to bring paper towels...we never have enough..and maybe some rags for oysters.”

“I don't know about getting oysters. I have called 6 different seafood retailer/wholesalers and known have any.”

“DUDE! I wish I had known. Haag and Sons has them. 42 bucks a bushel, Gulf Coast.
I got some shrimp, crab legs and 100 clams.”

“Just spoke with "jb2638" on the phone and he told me that someone else has taken the camping spot.”

“Guess I'll have to pack the pot and make some chowder then if there's no oysters. Troy and I will leave when we get off work around 5pm...be there around midnight, 1am.”

Camping and playing in the woods...cloudy drizzle and sunny skies... steamed oysters, shrimp and crab legs…chowder, cheeseburgers, fried okra and fajitas...cooking apple cobbler and Phil’s Breakfast Scrapple in the dutch oven with JB ...feeding hungry hikers...finally meeting our resident southern canuck Gremlin...

cold beer, chardonnay, merlot and a splitting morning headache...thru-hiker funk and fun...helpful vendors repairing gear...gracious vendors giving away free gear to Spam, Hyway, Government Mule, Windigirl, and Stomper...

interesting presentations about far away places...clandestine meetings...catching rides to town in the backs of pickups...crazy parade of cross-dressed thrus...hyway drenching the cops and the old lady in the wheel chair with his super duper soaker gun...

finding friends from past section hikes – Gypsy, Sweathog, Landfill, Baltimore Jack, InsideOut, 1Pint, Hong Kong Fui and Wolverine...

Saturday night’s huge campfire shared by old friends, new friends and strangers...Spam’s beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace...impromptu bluegrass group singing “Rockytop”...dancing around the campfire

feeling free and easy...

making plans for next year’s Tral Daze...sadly hugging goodbye to friends...

I won an ultralight pack in a raffle, and received a new Thermarest since they could not repair my old one. Paid for gas, I reckon.

It was nice to meet new faces to put with the names.

I retired early each night.

Sarabelle was acting strange all weekend. I suspected it was all the commotion. She has deteriorated to the point of not being able to stand. I took her to the vet this morning, but funds limited the visit to an exam - no blood work. If she's still sick come payday, I'll return to the vet...

“Maybe it was that overloaded backpack you carried all weekend?”

“I hated to miss it. But, fortunately, my son will only graduate from HS once. It will be another 4 years before I have any more of those to go to.”

“I hand-fed Belle at lunch today. It was all she could do to hold her head up. After work, I toted her from the truck to a grassy area and stood her up. With some encouragement, she walked a ways, squatted, then peed (first time in 24 hours). That's pretty encouraging!”
