Jump to Page << prev   | 1   | 2   | 3   |  4 | I met Sarabelle and Gizmo!!!!!!!! “Gojo too and a lot of other cool people. Boys and girls, Southerners party like French Canadians (party + bonfire + sleep deprivation) except that no-one fell in the fire (I've only done that once, eh?) and the occasional communal yell (gotta get them doing that up here). Yes indeedy. I ended up driving straight when I got to the I77 exit. Two birds with one stone was a little too ambitious and I was worried about driving while so tired. I needed to drive at least six hours so that I'd only need to drive 11 the next day. After six hours without being too worried about falling asleep I just sat behind a tractor trailor and took it easy for another two hours and took a room in Flacksburg. After a shower and a couple of beers I felt hungry - always a good sign - looked at my hands and went for dinner. It was a mom and pop restaurant serving comfort food. I had a Yuengling and a glass of wine with my pot roast. BTW, I don't try to eat soup or cole slaw in a restaurant. I worry about getting shaky, which makes me shaky, which gets worse when I try to steady my hands and the next thing you know, people are wearing soup or cole slaw. I was on the road at 7:30 yesterday and got home safe and sound with a 40 oz. Jim Beam that I scored for 13$ at the duty free. You know? People talk funny up here. I hope Sarabelle's okay. Doug” 8:54:42 AM 5/20/08 “That's what I call a Forty! Was there any belly dancing?” 9:26:45 AM 5/20/08 “Nope, thank goodness. Just laughing, drinking and I forgot to mention the music. Good times.” 12:18:10 PM 5/20/08 “Hey Gremlin! Did gojo try his famous "boil water in someone's platy" at the bonfire again? ;-)” 12:29:46 PM 5/20/08 “Dub!!! Where are the pics????” 12:55:17 PM 5/20/08 “Did gojo try his famous "boil water in someone's platy" at the bonfire again? ;-)” ~StoveStomper Nope. I punked-out and went to bed early both nights.” 1:00:31 PM 5/20/08 “I'll get 'em posted as soon as I can. Can't work on them at work and then right after work I head to my second job hangin' drywall in a basement...maybe I'll take Thursday/Friday evening off to download and adjust them.” 1:01:47 PM 5/20/08 “ I punked-out and went to bed early both nights.” gojo 3:00:31 PM 5/20/08 How in the world did you manage to sleep at Traildays?” 1:10:10 PM 5/20/08 “Arggggggggg...Thursday or Friday??? I just can't remember any details. There were some very good lines I could totally misrepresent for a hearty chuckle if I could just remember what they were. maybe the fumes from all that trash really did do some brain damage” 2:16:53 PM 5/20/08 hey Creek Dancer “hey Creek Dancer what are you going to be cooking next in the dutch oven? I'm cooking a dead chicken this weekend... later jb” 3:14:34 PM 5/20/08 “Why a dead one?” 3:20:29 PM 5/20/08 “taste better and a dead one wont scream. in the fire. have you ever tried to put a live chicken in a dutch oven.....” 3:34:46 PM 5/20/08 “Ever chop a live chicken's head off? They flop around a lot even without a head. I watched my Grandma do it several times.” 3:40:06 PM 5/20/08 JB “So how do you season your dead chicken? I think I will to cook one in my Dutch oven this weekend. My kids are home from school and they can be the guinea pigs. The country store I told you about didn't have one of those hooks, but I found one on the Lodge website.” 6:10:10 PM 5/20/08 “very cool , I use a bbq rub for chicken and I'm going to add veggies about 1/2 hour before the chicken is done ... and 1 can of beer....” 6:03:08 PM 5/21/08 “Ah, I think I've got some lime Bud Lite around here that will work, if I can pry it from my daughter's hand. It's her new fav.” 6:51:40 PM 5/21/08 Canuck wisdom “Light beer makes me pee on the ceiling. Dry, I blow dust. Just got the front edge of it last night from thru-hikin' folks that took time off the trail... Wooohooo! Don't get internet up on that mountain so I can't partake in these lively virtual conversations...” 1:02:41 PM 6/12/08 << back to Trail Days 2008 Take 2 page
