Ceasar Creek Trail

“Has anyone hiked the ceasar creek backpack trail in SW Ohio?

I was looking for a new hike, found there was a trail around ceasar creek, but that was all the information I could find.”

“Are you talking about the trail that goes around Ceasar Creek State Park? If so I've been there a few times. Part of the trail is paved--the paved part is part of a 77 mile rail to trail that runs through the park, my wife and I go down to ride there. The campground is pretty good and there's a guy on the way in who sells firewood for $10/stack on the honor system, always pick up some.”

“Oh, there's another state park like 10 miles from this one that has some decent hiking too. Can't remember what it's called though.”

“FYI - The other hike Dub is talking about is John Bryan State Park/Clifton Gorge...”

“John Bryan is closer to Dayton while Caesar Creek is far south of Columbus on 71. The other park I was thinking about is Cowan Lake. Just a few miles away. Clifton Gorge is a great area though, good loop trail through the gorge.”

“Yeah I hiked a major portion of it. There is only one camping area along the whole rout which makes the 26ish miles kind of tough but you can call the park office and reserve the camp. The camp turned out to be a big open field with a single apple tree in the middle. My buddy and I were hammock camping that weekend and ending up stringing the hammocks from trunk to branch. It wouldn't have been bad had an electrical storm come through that night. Very scary night. The trail is cool though.

Did you see the Dayton hiking thread where I posted that Five Rivers Metro Parks was doing a 22 mile backpacking trail from Germantown Park to Twin Creek Park? It should be done later this year.”

I hiked Ceasars’ Creek about 20 years ago!! I got pics to prove it!!
The shelters sucked and of course you had to deal with the Buckeye Nazis, (OSDNR) but it was a good trail and water would not be a problem. I know, that’s no help at all, I just wanna be part of something, since Fridge deleted all the trips I was signed up for dammit!! Oh the humanity!!!. What the He@#@, I’ll bet alcohol was a contributing factor!!! Of course we always have the Adena Trace!!! I am gonna go there next weekend and I won’t delete the trip!! I may post it tomorrow!! If anyone is interested!
