A city worker died after falling into a wood chipper while trimming trees in Inglewood, Calif.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident as an industrial accident, the station reported.

They are looking for people who may have seen the accident.

The victim was not identified, the station reported.

This is the first time I have heard of a city worker, in any city, doing something like this without a crew. He was alone?

if the pic along with the article is accurate, he fell from a bucket truck into a horizontal feed chipper... Ok...

Several years ago we actually had a double murder near where I was living. The murderer tried to dispose of his two female victims with a chipper. it was... um..... ugly to say the least.

Man dies in SoCal wood chipper accident

INGLEWOOD - A member of a city tree-trimming crew in south Los Angeles County is dead after being pulled into a wood chipper.
Authorities said Wednesday that the 46-year-old Inglewood city employee somehow got caught while feeding branches into the machine the previous afternoon and was dragged in behind them.

An Inglewood spokesman says the unidentified victim had worked for the city for eight years.

Police say no crime was involved in the accident.

A 24-year-old man died in a similar accident in November in Orange County.

Must have been an older unit. New chippers have a bump safety bar to reverse the feeder to prevent this.

As a safey precaution we do not run a crew under 3...1 in the picker and two ground people because shyt happens.
