i am thinking a steak, grilled vidalia onions, sweet potatoes cooked in the coals until they start to caramelize and a bottle of homemade wine. haha! dude, after that hike we will need to PUT BACK what you have TAKEN OFF! nobody is allowed to lose any weight by the end of the weekend. :)

I hope I can make this hike! Luke is playing ball this summer so I have to check his schedule.

Yogisan, I'll let you cook for me this time! :)

I'm gonna try to make it. I'd like to carpool but since everyone is coming south and I'm going north, I guess that won't work. :(

I was thinking about this, but it's gonna be too hot for me. I will have a terrible headache halfway through the hike that doesn't go away for a week. I don't know what it is about me, but I always get headaches from the heat. Actually, it doesn't even have to be all that hot.

At first I thought maybe I got headaches from dehydration, but it seems like no matter how much water I drink, it doesn't stop them. Maybe I need to try them fancy electrolyte things I've been hearing about.

I definitely need to boost my food and fluid intake on hiking weekends. Last weekend my legs were cramping up on a short hike - prolly cause I hadn't eaten much that day. I'm going to boost my electrolytes to, can't hurt!
stomper

dehydration will for sure be an issue. i won't harp on everyone to drink lots of water and electrolyte replacement on this trip.

i went running on sunday, 13.25 miles. it was very hot and muggy. i put down 3 liters of vitalyte as i ran and another liter during the remainder of the day.

dehydration will for sure cause headaches (ductape) and seriously robs you of performance. it's also dangerous. so i hope everyone is planning on taking breaks, drinking lots of fluids, having a way to treat water in case you run out, and if you feel you need it take advantage of the cache we will set up so chinmusic can have his diet coke... :)

while this is a LONG hike this is NOT a race. there are no medals for first place. it is supposed to be fun and i know you all know this. we should enjoy the area and the company of each other.

saturday night will be a blast!

the swimming hole is an EXCELLENT idea sass. if we get an early start i would think we would easily have time for this.

I'm going to have to bail on this trip guys...I'm just not going to be strong enough that soon...plus, it's gonna be hot and I can't swim with a new feeding tube...I also am already having dehydration issues and temps are only in the low 70's around here...I just have to get more things in line physically...I'm bummed but there will be other times...I will now, sniff, officially remove my name from this trip...

Mata - Mugsy will have to wait for cooler weather so see ya, maybe this fall.

I certainly will be caching some drinks at the second road crossing. Hopefully you speedy guys won't find my hiding place......heheh

On a serious note, it probably is a good idea to hide a cooler for the group there. I don't think Yogisan will be lucky enough to find another 6-pack.

crash is routinely in a variety of states, some of which could be addressed through medication and others which have not yet been discovered by the rest of sentient mankind. still, if you think of all the problems he could have but doesn't or does have but keeps to himself he is a really remarkable person!

i am trying to get friday off. i would like to get there early if i can. my job is insane... not like my old job... i have far less control over my schedule which i don't mind as much as the fact that on top of this i have almost zero predictability what is going on from one week to the next. it's led to some fairly stressful family situations, to say the least. so right now i'll say that my intention is to take friday off and arrive early -but- those plans may change next week.
