Rock Mountain hiking
Does anybody have any good info they can give me about rocky mountain park. Im fairly new to the backpacking/hiking scene, so any tips and recommended trails would be awesome. Im still not a 100% sure this is the place we are gonna go, we may go to Canyonlands in Utah, and theres a long shot chance of Glacier NP which is where I'd really like to go.Any info on those places would be cool as well.

Your question is too general...

RMNP and Glacier trails are very time-of-the-year dependant, so a few more details will get you a better answer.

I avoid RMNP in CO because there are so many other places less hassle and less crowded. But doof knows the ropes and can get you in there.

I will be going in late June. I would definitely like to go to Glacier, but it looks like Rocky Mountain will be where we go. Id really like to get into more remote areas of the park.

there are some great places in RMNP where you can get away from the the masses. Truthfully, the areas within a mile or two of the trailheads are busy with dayhikers and the like - and a few of the backcountry trails see LOTS of traffic. BUT, you can certainly get a backcountry experience in the park with a bit of planning. It may require a bit of navigating and off trail travel, (which the rangers will permit). email me if you want - the rangers at the backcountry office will be glad to help you as well.

That all said - there are thousands of acres of designated wilderness in CO that offer a much less crowded option and you'll really feel like your in the wilderness - good chance you won't see ANYONE for the whole time your out there.

Either way, you'll have a good trip.

Late June can be mighty chilly and snow can still be an issue. But it is an excellent time for the Sangre de Cristos.

Colorado is so awesome, you can't hardly find a bad hike. Bring lots of maps.

The only places that require permits for the backcountry that I know of are RMNP and the Indian Peaks Wilderness just south of there. The woods are lass crowded the further you get away from Denver.
