Cranberry Glades TRIP JUNE

“Just got back and lots to tell on....

First of all. I met up with HOI and Crash bang there on the Forks Cranberry Trail #245 around 9PM thursday. Camp was approx 1 or 2 tenths mile in and Hoi and I went ahead and shuttled my truck to the Big Beechy Trail head. Set up camp with FOG and previous thunderstorms earlier so everything was wet.
Next morning MarkO was not around so as predicted he was car camped at the trail head and at the rear of his vehicle you could see a wet area at the rear of his car running down hill like he had been PEEing like at least 5 or 6 times in the same spot. Run all the way into scenic route 150 and was obvious as you could follw this all to his vehicle. Way to go MarkO.

Okay we finally re grouped and started our bushwack down off trail #245 approx 1/2 mile in from rt 150. We headed North East down off the MT to hook up with the N Fork Cranberry River head waters and follow it all the way to the N Fork Cranberry Trail #272. We hit every imaginable obstacle you could imagine in a BOG area. MUD, RIVER,BOGS, RODO,Blow down,small spruce thickets you had to just over power and run like a Full back at a foot ball game, wet slimmy river rock you can bust yur rump om as we all did.

I'll continue on later.. I gots to give my self a shower and my doggies are not allowed into the house until they are bathed. I'll be back.

It was a shocking sight and I for one am traumatized for life.

I arrived about 4:20 in the AM Friday morning and had a few beers before passing out in my car and getting at best a couple of hours of sleep.

The next thing I know there is Crash Bang packing his stuff so I guess it's time for me to get up and get it together for the trail.

As we bushwhacked off trail that morning looking for the N Fork creek head waters the West Virginia Barking Frogs were everywhere, but nowhere to be seen.”

For those of you from the Baltimore/Washington area whose route to West Virginia or to I-81 south takes you through Berryville, Virginia on Route 340, Camino Real is a nice little mom and pop Mexican restaurant.

What more could you ask for?”

“highlights:
first day - coming back from the trail head to find a deer eating the moss/grass where I had taken a piss when I was scouting the campsite
second day - making it into the campsite only 2 hours after everyone else - I took my time during the bushwhack section
third day - easy hiking, getting rained on early in the day, dodging a thunder storm in a shelter on the Cranberry River, getting setup just in time to dodge another
fourth day - got my butt kicked big time - the last mile into the campsite was bonk time
fifth day - easy hike out and actually managed to not be the last one to the trail head - I left the campsite early

Did you get the latest itinerary for out flight out to Alaska? It seems that the flight numbers as well as the airline itself has changed. Just a heads up. Additionally, I was wondering how you were planning on getting to the Airport? I was thinking about long term parking and am looking into it tonight.
