3:33:49 PM 5/05/08 FYI “Your white flowers are Dutchnan's Britches. Seneca Shadows is about the best campground in the entire Mid-Atlantic. Is Dean still managing the place?” 5:18:10 PM 5/05/08 “Nice, Geo!” 6:20:03 PM 5/05/08 “Dean and Peggy are in their last season at Seneca Shadows. They will move to Florida next year. Before they came to Seneca Shadows the place was a dump. Dean brought it back. Sad to see him go. They became great friends. First time I met Dean, his favorite expression was "Who has more fun than people?" He said he met Peggy in Arizona. She was a test pilot. In the broom factory. Peggy puts up with him. So now we cross our fingers to see who comes next. They have very big shoes to fill. Virgil passed away two winters ago. I've missed his smiling face and his two border collies that sat up on the seat of the cart as he sold firewood.” 9:01:10 AM 5/06/08 “Thanks for the ID Mr. Hyker. My friend told me that's what they were, but I didn't think he was correct. I forgot you have to look at them as though they are upside-down.” 9:32:15 AM 5/06/08 “ Now THAT is a great bad weather set-up! I also enjoyed the rest of your pictures, Geo...” 9:44:40 AM 5/06/08 “That's a bit more up to date than the Tarp Mahal.” 9:51:17 AM 5/06/08 “Actually I disagree mrhyker that flower is Dicentra canadensis aka squirrel corn - see link: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=DICA&photoID=dica_004_ahp.tif” 10:03:54 AM 5/06/08 “I enjoyed those pictures very much. Thanks for posting. I will have to go back and look at the winter shots again when it's 98 degrees outside! Brrrrrrr...they will cool ya right off.” 10:22:26 AM 5/06/08 My Bad! “You're correct HOI. I have seen Dutchman's Britches and it doesn't look like that. I used to have a photo on my site but I can't find it now. The flower of this Squirrel Corn also looks like Climbing Fumitory, Mountain Fringe, Allegheny Vine (Adlumia fungosa) but the leaves are totally different.. last edited: 5/06/08 12:27:30 PM” 12:22:34 PM 5/06/08 “Squirrel Corn?? Ha ha !! Maybe you should plant some in your yard, Geo.” 1:32:51 PM 5/06/08 “Good one marko!! So where is psychosquirrel these days?” 4:33:04 PM 5/06/08 “... and the Dutchman's britches has yellow at the bottom. And I think it blooms in later May. Thanks HOI. You-da man! MarkO, if I want a squirrel in my front yard I'll invite you for a barbecue. I call the new shelter The Far Pavilion. It's a fold out design, and I just hung tarps from it. At first it was to keep out the rain, but when the temp dropped I bought more tarps and completely walled it off. It was so cold I could almost hear Russell Brice calling to his climbers on Everest. It was so cold I could smell polar bear crap. Teams of dog sleds went by and one musher asked for directions to Nome (I said thataways a fur piece).” 6:40:24 AM 5/07/08
