Mountain Hardwear Sleeping Bag QuestionView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 10 of 10 messages posted.
Mountain Heardwear Sleeping BAg question “Anyone had any experience with the Mountain Hardwear Ultralamina (32 degree) bag?? It seems like it would be a pretty nice synthetic bag. The womens long weighs 2lbs 2 oz (I know, its heavy!) and its stuffed size is 6.5 by 12 and 1/2 inches. I checked the specs on my Marmot Helium down bag, and though its under 2lbs in weight its stuffed size is 7 by 14 inches. Soooo the Ultralamina stuffs down pretty well it seems so I'm just wondering if anyones used it and what they think. Do you trust is temp. rating etc. last edited: 5/08/08 7:30:28 AM” 7:29:10 AM 5/08/08 “Did I hear correctly that Mountain Hardware was acquired by Columbia Sports Outdoor division? If so all bets may be out the window.” 7:36:21 AM 5/08/08 “huh?” 7:37:35 AM 5/08/08 “Columbia Sportsware, to my understanding, does not have the finest reputation. They may be marketing the name as opposed to the quality MH has been known for if I heard that correctly.” 7:39:31 AM 5/08/08 “MH was sold to Columbia 5-6 years ago. BUT, MH still designs their products and operate independently of Columbia. IMO, there hasn't been a change in the quality of MH products since they decided to sell.” 7:50:48 AM 5/08/08 “Maybe the testers used a trash compactor?” 7:51:58 AM 5/08/08 “Thanks for that clarification lmg” 7:52:42 AM 5/08/08 “lol. Saleboard, what are you sayin?” 8:11:30 AM 5/08/08 “probly something along the line of me being able to get my 15 degree synth bag into a stuff sack the size of my wallet. I might be able to do it... if I had the mechanical advantage. I've tried making some DIY compression caps for me underquilt stuff sack. It was a disaster....... last edited: 5/08/08 8:15:49 AM” 8:13:40 AM 5/08/08 “Making specs compete isn't the most honest of science as Rev is hinting.” 8:17:43 AM 5/08/08
