A new pack
Hey. I am looking for a great pack that can use for week lng trips and or some aline and canyoneering trips as well. Prefferably around 5,000 ci. Any ideas? i know I am very specific. hopefully Ican find one without too much compromising.
Thank!

Don't you want waterproof for canyoneering? I think you need a dryseal pack.

only the same advice as I would give anybody and followed myself when I was looking for a new pack. Figure out what you want and then go try on what ever you can find that fits those parameters.

I dont really need waterproof becasue I have some great super light water proofstuff sacks. I was lookinat the Ospey aether 70, but wasn't sure that would work for alpine. THanks again

I second the vote for Osprey. I have 3 Osprey packs and love them all.

I loved my Golite Trek. It was made for climbers and weight conscious hikers. It is a no suspension pack though. Very comfy.

i have found there to be strange pressure points with my Osprey. I have the Aura 65. I've decided i hate the curved frame of that pack. I like a traditional loading pack. This probably wouldn't be big enough in terms of cubic inches, but Tater and I both recently bought the REI Ridgeline pack and so far it looks freakin sweet and it carries well....(thought I've not logged any real miles in it yet...we'll see after the first trip).

osprey exposure...

it would fit most of your needs -except- it ain't 5000 CI... it's a 3000 CI pack. full of great alpine climbing features (gear loops, ice axe/ski/shovel tie downs, rope management system, etc, etc)

ok cool beans. I'm assuming you've been on this site long enough to know that if u click someones name you get an email addy? I tried yours...but you didn't list one.

If you need help with measuring your torso, REI had a good little blurb and instructional bit about how to do it. In fact here is the link for it:

the Womens Large Aura 65 pack has the following specs:

4,200 cubic inches, 3lbs 13 oz.

The sizing info for the large is a torso length of 20 inches or longer; hip/waist measurement of 33 inches or bigger.

I totally bought the wrong size with this pack and I think as a result its not terribly comfortable on me. I don't want to discourage a sale here, but seriously, if this is gonna be too big, you DO NOT want it.

we can measure your torso size from a photo. post one, but you must be nude for the measurement to be accurate. we want the backpack to fit properly!
