Anyone know of any good women's vegan backpacking boots out there? I already know of the Garmont Kiowas but I want to look at some other options and can't really find any.

No need to get sarcastic, it was a serious question looking for serious advice.

Thanks!

I don't mean to sound sarcastic but this sort of sounds like playing with the devil...

You want to 'save' a cow that is going to be butchered anyway but you are willing to spew more hydrocarbon junk into the environment from the refining of the oil and creation of the plastics used to make your boots...which affects the entire planet

interesting concept...to each their own, good luck with your search.

You people!

There have got to be choices out there. I would think most trail runners would be a good bet.

Said another way... I have been on TT for a while now and have not met a lot of vegans. So odds are you will be hard pressed to get recommendations from many (if any) people that have actually used these products. Google does give some choices such as:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html/103-7949431-0151863?ie=UTF8&a=B000V5WS4K

Let us know what you decide on and follow up after a few hikes to tell us how it worked out. Good luck!

The key is to use emotion rather than logic.

Often the key is a conviction of how deeply one wants to participate and utilize a system they reject. In that case perhaps emotion plays a part in it, but not as cynically as mutt implies.

Another key is social image. How can the OP appear to be part of the cool holier-than-thou vegan crowd when all she has are cowhide boots?

This is so silly.

Can I get a vegan jeep to make it to the trailhead?

Look people, I'm not trying to start a freakin debate here, I'm just asking for some advice on where to get a piece of flipping gear.

Anyway, thanks to those who actually offered me some suggestions. To those of you who think a certain lifestyle is "silly," to each his/her own. Simple as that. People can agree to disagree. This is not a place/thread to explain why I choose or not choose to eat/live the way I do, so I will not. End of that discussion.

If anyone has any more links or advice on my original question, feel free to post... thanks!

How about rope soled sandals.

Depending on the rope, you may be able to smoke them when you get to camp so as to forget about the aching feet.

Of course that may cause the vegan diet to go to the wall when the munchies hit.

I never said you couldn't have your own opinion, lol.... but the original question didn't ask for your opinion on me being a vegan and asking to be trashed, now did it? Nope, didn't think so. It merely asked about gear - nicely, actually... I should have known better lol.

“So Scorchy is an earth momma? No make up, because it has animal products. No hair products? Hairy legs. That's hot.”

There are all sorts of makeup that is available without animal products in it. Same for hair products, including hair dye. And I also shave my legs, thank you.

“Scorchy, don't you work at a gear store? No vegan boots there?”

We have 1 pair of Garmonts, which fit actually really well, but I wanted to look into other options just to see what else was out there. I'll probably just wind up going with the Garmonts (Kiowas) just because of the massive discount I get on them!

LOL, speaking of, EMS has a new pair of socks made from CORN! They're pretty damn comfy and no they don't turn into popcorn if you nuke em ;)
