Beginning backpacking opportunities in C entral PA?

“I hike quite often in the Centre-Mifflin Co area of PA. Been wanting to get into backpacking, but don't know anybody in the area who's into that - would prefer to go along with someone experienced the first couple times out at least. Seeking an easy trip later in the year or people who wouldn't mind having a newbie along getting his feet wet. Any takers?”

“It's been pretty slim in the neck of the woods for a while. Particularly since the meltdown. But the Bearmagathon is coming up.”

“Maybe we flamed out too early in the year with 3 trips into Greenwood Furnace in March. :) I might be game for a weekender from Alan Seeger or Penn Roosevelt to Poe Valley, or maybe Beaver Pond area to the Little Juniata. I just don't know when though.”

“Thanks, all. I've been watching the Trips section and there have been a few that sound great - don't think I'm ready to jump head-first into a 4-day trip or something though, or force unsuspecting backpackers into putting up with me for the duration if I discover this isn't my bag.
