Beginning backpacking opportunities in C entral PA?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
“I hike quite often in the Centre-Mifflin Co area of PA. Been wanting to get into backpacking, but don't know anybody in the area who's into that - would prefer to go along with someone experienced the first couple times out at least. Seeking an easy trip later in the year or people who wouldn't mind having a newbie along getting his feet wet. Any takers?” 2:29:13 PM 5/26/08 “Just keep you eyes and ears open. There is always someone posting trips from time to time. If you see anything interesting or near your area don't be shy to ask. BTW Welcome to the forum.” 3:01:43 PM 5/26/08 “I am in Northumberland County and would be willing to share the trail with a newbie as long as the newbie don't mind sharing with a gimp. e-mail is in my profile. Send me a line in terms of what you have in mind.” 4:00:41 PM 5/26/08 “Welocme to TT. Join a trip. There are always something going on. last edited: 5/26/08 7:18:29 PM” 7:18:18 PM 5/26/08 “It's been pretty slim in the neck of the woods for a while. Particularly since the meltdown. But the Bearmagathon is coming up.” 7:21:14 PM 5/26/08 “Maybe we flamed out too early in the year with 3 trips into Greenwood Furnace in March. :) I might be game for a weekender from Alan Seeger or Penn Roosevelt to Poe Valley, or maybe Beaver Pond area to the Little Juniata. I just don't know when though.” 4:59:32 AM 5/27/08 “Thanks, all. I've been watching the Trips section and there have been a few that sound great - don't think I'm ready to jump head-first into a 4-day trip or something though, or force unsuspecting backpackers into putting up with me for the duration if I discover this isn't my bag. rev & ki0eh - I'll be in touch.” 6:27:51 AM 5/27/08
