“Well part of the reason Bush was elected (albeit in a tight poll) was a reaction against the Clinton years. People were looking for integrity in the Whitehouse - only they didn't really get it.

I don't even blame Bush - I actually think he's a decent man doing his best - he has basically been a frontman for Cheney and Rumsfeld and the crew. He seems to struggle to impose himself on, or even understand the issues he's confronted with.

His foreign policy is hawkish
His military spending has soared
He's done nothing on healthcare
He's tried to privatize social security
He's cut taxes
He's appointed conservative judges
He's rolled back environmental controls
He's had a very hand-off approach to markets
He's vetoed 'liberal' legislation

You know I don't agree with everything Obama says - but the fact is that he is a political superstar who has a magic touch. He's also been helped by current events which would make it very tough for a good Republican candidate to win - and McCain is at least eight years beyond being a good candidate.
