Backpacker's welcome to come along
Hello all. I have an 8 person permit to hike from Horseshoe Meadows to Onion Valley this August 20 - 26. Originally, I had a full group, but as usually happens, one-by-one everybody has dropped out. I am prepared to do this hike by myself but thought it a shame to give up all those spaces on the permit. This hike will start at the Cottonwood Lakes trailhead. To Long Lake, up over New Army Pass down past the Soldier Lakes area into Rock Creek, joining up with the PCT heading north. Up over Guyot Pass to the Crabtree Meadow area west of Whitney, then hooking up with the JMT going north. We would continue north on the JMT over the Bighorn Plateau, up and over Forrester Pass, down into the Vidette Meadows area, past the Kearsarge Pinnacles. We then leave the JMT and head east past the Kearsarge Lakes and up over Kearsarge Pass to Onion Valley. 6 days and 5 nights. Average would be about 10 miles per day give or take. If anybody is interested, please post a reply and we can trade e-mails and further info.

Thanks for the help. I just found this site a few days ago. I've now posted it on the trips page. I don't need a firm committment right now. A "maybe" is perfectly fine.

Well, I'm doing this trip you are mentioning - it looks like alone. I'm planning on leaving between Aug. 8 and 10 and spending 8 to 11 days in the backcountry. I teach, so I'm very flexible. If you'd like to do it then, cool. Anyone else interested?
