Mid Atlantic Outdoors | August Issue

I am the publisher of an online outdoors magazine titled Mid Atlantic Outdoors. We cover the wide range of outdoor activities available to enthusiasts in the Mid Atlantic region, from world class climbing in the Shawangunks to screaming single track in Jim Thorpe, PA to the grandaddy of hiking trails, the AT to the shore and running class V rivers n Maryland and West Virginia.

Our theme for August is 'rock and dirt'. We're going to cover climbing and backpacking/hiking. If anyone has an idea for an article we'd love to hear from you. We'd really love to hear from you if you want to write a piece on fast packing or ultralight hiking.

“nor do we have one. If you're looking to write for cash we unfortunately can't accommodate you. (Note lack of advertising or a subscription fee). We're just two guys who like the outdoors who happen to also be in publishing and design and decided to throw this out there.

Seriously, I'd love to be able to pay folks for submissions but right now the best we can offer is credit for the words and a link to the story. No problem if you need more, in my real world existence I work with freelancers all the time and I understand how it's a grind and you need compensation for the creative talents.”

“I think you've done a nice job there. Water spots on the cover are a little overdone - but to me it seems well laid out and it's certainly eye-catching.

It's nice to see something designed for computer reading rather than just a pdf'd A4. Great photos btw - really gives a sense of action.”

“I'd try and break up your paragraphs a bit too, some of the text is fairly intimidating for a magazine and for a computer screen.

But then you're prolly not looking for this kind of feedback - I think you've got a great product there overall.
