Hiking with the kids- Ricketts Glen TRView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 2 of 2 messages posted.
“Saturday was hot with a humidity that felt it could spawn a thunderstorm at any moment. So, I decided to take my niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Christian, and their cousin Mitchell hiking to beautiful Ricketts Glen. The kids loved all the waterfalls and the cascading creeks. They picked up toads and went wading at Waters Meet. The trail was busy, but no too crowded. This is a fairly tough trail, but they really enjoyed it and no one whined. They all did great. I even taught them to identify stinging nettle. The storms held off while we were hiking, but it began to rain on the way back. The storm passed and the kids wanted to go swimming, so I took them to an awesome swimming hole on the Mehoopany Creek as it leaves its wilderness canyon. The kids splashed in the water and even took a short water slide into the deep pool. Another storm chased us to the car and we headed home. Its a really beautiful spot and I need to take them back there again. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/563806721qhvmsr?vhost=outdoors” 5:45:23 PM 6/15/08 “Sounds like fun!
