I finally, actually really got out....
I finally got out on the trail this past weekend. I needed it so badly I had forgotten hod much. I spent Friday night at Bradley Wales vista on the West Rim trail. Talk about a hammock hangers paradise. That's a real monkey jungle. I was up early to see the 38 metric tons of cotton that gets gets dumped into the canyon every night. The fog completely obscures the view. After it lifts (and it lifts in a hurry) the view is spectacular.

I then got in the car and drove to the Ice Break Trail, a blue blaze access trail leading to the Ice Break Vista. Gorgeous. From there I traveled by foot to Little Slate Run campsite where I was alone for the next night. I got things set up about 3:00 p just in time for the first clap of thunder in what would be a marathon thunder storm of about 12 hours. It was fabulous. I loved it. Morning came and I crawled out of the hammock and lazed around in the campsite.

I finally got going again about 11:30 a and ate a very leisurely lunch at the Ice Break vista. Got out to the car and headed home.

Hey 'rev, you could have come over to Hills Creek instead and gotten fed out of the deal. We wound up with too much extra food for the Trail Crew. People started disappearing early since it rained every day and folks ran out of dry clothes. We did get the steps done that we had looked at before, and a fair number of other things.

Not only did I stay... but I stayed dry. More than I can say about the ground dwellers I met on the way out.

Hey.. after all the times I had to bail for one reason or another... it just felt good to get out there.

and once it started to rain I was not gonna pack up and beat it after I had everything set up. I took the worst tent site in the camp area and it turned out to be the perfect hammock site. It was great.

Congrats on getting out, Rev. Excellent choice of locations, too. Glad to hear you didn't let the storm rain on your parade, like it did on mine.
