The Susquehanna River Rats trip has been removed from the schedule and canceled. During training trips it became evident that my daughter was not going to be able to do the trip.

Bummer. Perhaps another time.

be able to = want to?

Does that mean we can hijack the old thread with irrelevant observations?

Has there ever been a choice? Actually the old thread is gone. So knock yourself out I guess.

Hey rev, a few years back when i lived in FL, i took my daughter kayaking for a day on the St Lucie River - she was stoked to go and insisted on having her own kayak vs sharing a tandem with me. Oh - she was 9 at the time. Well, she had a hard time controlling the boat and pretty much surveyed the river side to side the whole way down, which put her in the trees and stuff overhanging the banks.

Needless to say she didn't the good time she anticipated. So, next time we shared a tandem and she had more fun.

Don't cancel your trip with her, just modify it so that you can enjoy it.

The trip ain't gonna work... but alternatives are under consideration. The decision to cancel was hers cause she got a glimpse of what would await her.

She couldn't deal with camping in a primitive but established forest campsite. Ain't no way she wanted to stealth it tired and hurting. I ain't got a camping family....

Oh well.... It's called day trips, which are fine by me. But day trips aren't the trip I posted. That trip is history.
