That's sad.....at least he was doing something he liked when it happened.

You couldn't buy a better monument for a grave than that.

i wonder how long before they get him down? the grief of his family must be terrible. he was too young. i read about dudes snuffing it in their 50s or 60s of heart attacks and it really gives me a sense of mortality.

most likely - never.

The risk to the recovery team would be tremendous - access to the summit is via a knife edge ridge and at that altitude and weather combo the risk of recovery likely will be deemed to outweigh the benefits.

It's sad and trajic, but such is the risk of high altitude mountaineering.

Doing what you love or not - dead is dead and it sucks for the dead guy - and his family/friends.

There's another story in the Chicago Tribune with a few additional details. Denali was his 49th highpoint -- the last one was to be North Dakota's.

No worries about trying to bring him down. He will remain there: "If he was going to die of a heart attack, there's probably no better place to have done it than that. If he was to be laid to rest anywhere, the top of North America is probably the best place for him." It was a fitting finish to a full life, family and friends said. "It's actually kind of comforting," Chris Nasti, 24, his eldest son, said Monday.

man, talk about looking on the bright side of things. his family apparently knew him well if they can find some margin of comfort here.

Another one died

They "buried" the body of the previous on on top of the mountain.
